It is native to the Southeastern US as far north as Delaware and Misouri. They have had a few days of storm in the US maybe it got blown off course. The climate is changing so we will occasionally see birds come into this area from south of here.

It is a rare sighting. I have never seen one. Let your local birder club know and you will have bird watchers swarming your place.Tossing Pebbles in the Streamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04354065895900279070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7944740176048431569.post-80485205065521602082009-11-15T14:00:59.664-08:002009-11-15T14:00:59.664-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7944740176048431569.post-286669966513839152009-11-15T13:58:56.916-08:002009-11-15T13:58:56.916-08:00I had to compare them side by side but I believe P...I had to compare them side by side but I believe Peter is right. A neat bird in any event, but for Ontario (or indeed, anywhere in Canada) - absolutely fabulous!

I have been seriously looking at birds in this province for just over 20 years, and I've never seen (or even heard tell of) one of these in all that time. Thanks for sharing.

Peter C.

P.S. and thanks to my friend E.
