What's New on Tuesday

Good Tuesday morning, to all my friends and readers. I thought this graphic was so cute and a great way to say good day to all of you.

Well, the excitement from the storm has passed. I thought for a while today that we were in for another severe storm. Toronto did get it, but it passed us by.

It was HOT today. 33.3 degrees Celsius, which is 91.94 degrees Fahrenheit, but with the humidex it was 40 Celsius, which is 104 Fahrenheit. We surpassed a record that was set on the same day in 1959.

The neighbor lady and I spent a few hours stripping wallpaper in the biggest bedroom of the upstairs apartment. We quit about 3pm because it was just too warm, even with the air conditioning. Hubby wasn't feeling good, so we had him go and pick up a couple things for us but wouldn't let him do any work. I think part of his problem was the heat and the air quality was poor as well. I don't need him taking a heart attack because he's working too hard at that apartment. I told him it will get done when it gets done and he's not killing himself to do it. I expected an argument but I got none - another sign that he wasn't feeling well.

Jack is coming tomorrow, so he will get all the mess cleaned up and we will go from there. It will all get done in it's own time.

I would like to introduce you to a blogging friend of mine. His name is Paul and he is 93 years old. He is the father of Denise at Samaritan Women. He is a great poet and tells some great stories of his younger years. Please visit him at The Poet. I love visiting his blog, reading his poems and walking with him down Memory Lane. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Please continue to pray for Denise at Shortybear's Place. She lost her brother on Sunday and she is going through a difficult time. If you would like to send her a card, please let me know. A card shower is a lovely way to express our sincere condolences in this time of sorrow.

Have a great week and remember to do a random act of kindness. Kindness brings hope where all hope has been lost. Blessings, Mary

A Hectic Day

Good Thursday morning.

Wednesday was a hectic day. Hubby and I both had errands to do in the afternoon. I got home first so I phoned for prices on carpet etc. Then we had to go and do some business and it took longer than we thought. By the time it was done, it was time to get something to eat. By this time we were both exhausted. Guess we are getting old. We can't do all the things in one day that we used to. So no physical work got done in the apartment today. However, we do know where we can get the best deals on some of the materials that we need.

Hope everyone has a good day. I will try to post a little update when I can.

In other news, they have called a halt to Aunt May's therapy for the time being. She went Tuesday to be marked for radiation on her spine. There is a lump of cancer there as big as a baseball. They feel it is more urgent to take care of that at the present time instead of chemo. Please continue to pray for her. She is in good spirits and is taking all of this in stride. She is a remarkable woman.

My blessings for this week:

1. May's positive attitude and inspiring motivation.

2. My MIL, who gave us an awesome gift to help with the renovations.

3. For Jack (and Melissa and Griffyn) who are lending us a hand with the renovations.

4. For all my wonderful blogging friends who prayed the tenant would move out without problems and who are still praying for us.

5. For songbirds that sing me awake in the morning.

6. For all of the blessings too numerous to mention here such as food on the table, a roof over our heads and all the other common things we often take for granted.

7. For the Power of Prayer.

Take care and have a wonderful day. ~Blessings, Mary~

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday. It is a day when we list the things we are thankful for. If you would like to participate, be sure to stop by Sting My Heart and pay Iris a visit. You can find out all the information there.

This week I have a lot to be thankful for. I am always greatful for blessings received and don't take anything for granted.

1. I'm thankful for the researcher who realized that animal therapy could help us cope with both physical and mental disabilities.

2. For the people who run the farm where the boys go for their animal therapy each week.

3. For the animals that give of their love and affection to help the boys through the hard times that they experience. Both boys love the animals but they have especially helped Brandon cope with his Asperger's Syndrome.

4. I'm thankful for having legs that can carry me wherever I want to go. Many aren't so fortunate and though my legs sometimes cause me a lot of pain, I can still use them to get around.

5. I'm thankful for my eyesight and the eyedrops that keep my eye pressures low. Yes, I have been remembering to use them everyday.

6. For blood sugar levels that are not as high as they once were. I started taking a new medication two years ago and the results have been amazing.

7. For friends both online and in the real world. Friends are the blooms in the garden of life. Please be sure to take a copy of the button for your blog if you'd like.

8. I'm thankful that my aunt who has bone cancer is still with us. She has some pain and she's been told that the cancer will never go into remission, but she is holding her own - she's always been a fighter and not one to give up.

9. For answered pray, whether or not it is answered in the way that I was hoping for. God knows what's best for us better than we do.

10. For having the freedom to worship as I see fit and for the soldiers who risk there lives for us to continue to experience that freedom. Also for the ones who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Please leave a comment telling me what you are thankful for today. ~Blessings, Mary~
