Saturday with the Boys

The boys came over on Saturday morning about 11am. We had lunch and then we put up a little artificial tree that's been in the basement for years. It isn't anything fancy. Just a basic tree that I bought many years ago. We decided to just do a small tree this year instead of the usual large live tree.

Both boys helped decorate the tree for a while and then Brandon wanted to bake chocolate chip cookies by himself. He did a great job. I had one while it was still warm and the boys had a couple each. Very tasty.

While Brandon baked cookies, Jordan wanted to know if he could finish decorating the tree by himself. I let him. After all, these boys are getting older and want to be independent. That allows me to keep an eye on them, yet let them spread their wings. Jordan really enjoyed decorating and the tree doesn't look half bad considering. I will post a photo in a day or two.

Around 4pm, it was time to take the boys home. I packed up some of Brandon's cookies and some candy that my friend JoAnn had sent over for them. They will have treats for the entire week.

It was cold here today with a biting wind, but we still don't have any snow. Many areas all around us do and snow is predicted in this area for tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a great week. If you have winter storms in your area, remember to be careful on the roads and be safe.

  1. We're supposed to get more snow this week too. The cookies look good. The boys are doing very well!

  2. I guess we'll all soon have lots of snow. However, you may lose some in the rain they're predicting for Wednesday. But we're not supposed to get rain here -- just snow. Which is okay by me at this time of year.

  4. I bought a 7 foot artificial tree. The husband didn't have the tradition of Christmas trees. When I went away with my second daughter, he called and said the students were collecting for the Sri Lanka Tsunami and he wanted to give away the tree as we would be returning to New Zealand.

What do or what can I do over the phone. I said yes, and then we didn't buy another tree. Now i got 4 live trees in the garden.

Bet the choc chippy cookies were great.

  5. I MUST comment on the candy and cookies you sent home lasting a week. Mary, are you crazy? I have baked dozens of cookies and have seen one grandson especially go through a dozen like he was eating two cookies. Nothing good lasts growing boys a week!

  7. sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I let Pea know her book will be going out late. I won't get to the post office till tomorrow morning. Its hard when I depend on one of the girls cars to get errands done on a certain day. But a wonderful blessing to have transportation at all! Have a blessed day!

  12. Ask Brandon if he can deliver some of those cookies to me??? lol Wow, he really did do a great job baking them. No doubt both boys enjoyed helping you decorate the tree as well.

It's been really cold here too lately and tomorrow we're supposed to have our first big snowstorm of the Winter, 25 to 30 cm of snow is expected. I do hope it won't be as severe as they're predicting! Yikes!! I'm hoping the weather is good on Fri, Sat. & Sun. as Steve and I want one more trip to NF before Christmas. It's the drive from Sudbury to Barrie that has me nervous...he drives the rest of the way! lol Niagara on the Lake is having their Santa Claus parade on Saturday so we want to go to that, as well as the Candlelight Stroll Saturday evening. If you guys want to join us you're more than welcome, you know that:-) xoxo

  13. Those cookies look wonderful! What great helpers you have~
Cold here, especially for us. Our low last night was 15, which is unheard of here on the Oregon Coast though I know that's not even considered cold for other places. There is ice on the bay right now, which is incredible to see.

  17. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. My boys don't help me decorate the tree any more, I miss that. Maybe some day I'll have grand kids to come and help put up the tree. I love home made chocolate chip cookies, yours look good. We have had a ferocious wind here, too.
