Each week I search fleamarkets and thrift shops for vintage items to sell in my Etsy shop. Last Saturday when the boys and I went to the fleamarkets, I made a great find...a real treasure so to speak.
This is a Lorraine glass bird that is shaped to form a bowl. Lorraine Glass Industries made these and other beautiful glass birds in Montreal, Canada between 1962 and 1974. You don't see them often anymore. This bird is very heavy. It weighs approximately 2.5 lbs. It is quite large at 7.75 inches x 7.5 inches. The reason this bird is so special is because it has three colors of glass...green, blue and clear. Most of Lorraine's birds had only a clear comb, beak and base and one other color. A popular color was light blue and another was amber.
Other finds this week included a Norman Rockwell print from 1972, a bunny bank in the form of a tea pot, a lovely Sutherland bone china trinket tray and a cut glass trinket tray.
