Getting Back to Normal

I'm beginning to get things around here back to normal. I'm doing a little more, cleaning some things that haven't been taken care of since my heart surgery. Hubby tried his best, but just don't do things the way I do. So this morning, I took dust cloth in hand, cleaned out a couple of cupboards that had become badly disorganized and spent a few hours putting things back to normal. After that, I was tired. I can't believe that I can't do more but do know that heart bypass surgery knocks your socks off. So, I will attempt to do a little each day and try to get things straightened out a bit.

I'm doing okay health-wise, although my blood pressure has been zipping up and down. For those who know anything about blood pressure readings, mine was a bit low at 106/57. I wondered why I didn't have any energy and that was why. A fill-in doctor told me I was on way too much blood pressure medication and cut it down a little. That seemed to work for a while but then my blood pressure went up to 160/77. The top figure was too high and that made me a little anxious, which made it go to 170/80. This all happened in a matter of two days and then it was down again to 140/60. Not sure why it's doing that, but I'm wondering if the hot, humid weather is a factor. I know it can be, but don't want to assume.

I need to go for some blood tests. My appointment at the cardiologist last week to have a sonogram (ultrasound) went well. I have not heard anything from the cardiologist, so either the test results aren't back or everything is fine. It would be nice if they notified me either way.

But life is moving forward. Hubby has been having some tests of his own and he has to go for more, so we will see where that leads.

I hope all of my friends and readers are enjoying a pleasant and safe summer.

  2. Boy, sure does seem like those of us "old farts" are doing the best we possibly can to keep the medical professionals in business, doesn't it?

I leave tomorrow (Thursday, July 29th) to go to Pittsburgh where I will have surgery on Friday -a hysterectomy along with -hopefully anyway -some hernia repair. Not full repair as they say they won't do a full repair along with another full surgical procedure but will try to do some minor tacking up! Whatever that will be, ya know.

Glad to hear that overall, you are mending nicely though. Now, let that scare be the last one you give your family and friends -especially us out here in blogger land, ya know!

Hope to be back on line late next week sometime and will try to catch up with everyone and everything online then!

  4. Sounds to me like you're doing pretty well, considering what you've gone through the last year....as for the blood pressure, it depends on your age, your weight, and your physical activity along with diet. If you sit and do nothing the reading will be sky high...Stay away from salt...WALK, WALK, WALK...and then walk some more. If you have a BP monitor at home, don't take your reading 'til after you've walked ...wait 30 minutes and you'll see it's much lower.

  5. Take it easy, when I was a young mum, some very wise person told me that housework will be then when you have done it today. Sometimes just go out and relax. The best advice I recieve and now I am telling people.

Another one is a sign which says My kitchen is not a clean one, but a happy one.

  7. Mary,

Good to hear you are making progress. Sounds like you have struck a nice balance. You do what you can without overdoing, which is a great way to begin getting things back to normal as you mend. I hope your tests and Dwight's go well. Waiting is stressful. As you said, it would be nice if they could let you know if it's because the tests aren't back yet.

I love the new look of your blog. It's so cheerful!

    Take care, my friend.
    Love and hugs,
    Tina
