First of all, we all know tea is a diuretic. Yes, it removes the excess water from your body. But there were other facts that were quite fascinating.
If you suffer from Type 2 diabetes, you might be interested to know that green tea can help control blood glucose levels. If your blood glucose levels have high peaks and low dips, green tea can aid in leveling them out, as can cinnamon. Green tea is also known for its cancer fighting capabilities and is believed to aid in weight loss.
For centuries different types of tea has been used for medicinal purposes. Centuries ago, tea was also a status symbol. Only the rich and wealthy were able to afford tea. In 1666, tea sold in Holland for $80 a pound, and of course we've all heard of the Boston Tea Party that took place in Boston Harbor prior to the American Revolution.
I hope you have enjoyed learning a bit about tea. One word of caution! Before using tea medicinally, be sure to contact your doctor.

Deena at Can I Be Pretty in Pink?
All of the people above go out of their way to make their blogs unique in a special way. Thanks to all of you. I always enjoy visiting.
I could go on and on with the people whose blogs I love to visit, but I limit myself to five recipients of every award that I pass on. Sometimes I chose to give an award to everyone. However, this time I wanted to mention these people who make the blogging world a great experience for their readers.
Have a great weekend and stay safe. ~Blessings, Mary~

Have agreat day.
Blessins',Lib
Lib,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know either. I read it on a few blogs and then did a search. I am also a tea lover.
Have a great weekend.
Mary
Good Afternoon Mary,
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know either that January was National Tea Month. About the only Tea I drink is Sweet Tea with a couple of pieces of Lemon in it once in a while. I had no idea about the Green Tea and what it was good for either. I have heard of Green Tea, but I have never tried it. I may have to check into trying it sometime. Since I have type 2 Diabetes and am overweight, it might help me some. "CONGRATULATION'S" on all of the Awards you received. You are always most deserving of each and everyone you do receive. "CONGRATULATION'S" to all the ladies you passed them on to as well. I wanted to let you know that I took a copy of the Valentine's card that you gave everyone and have it on my Sidebar. "THANK YOU" for the Valentine's Card Mary. It is very beautiful. I was awake all night last night and I went back to bed after I took the girls to School this morning. I woke up a bit ago and ate me a sandwich. I may try to get another short nap in before they get home from School today. I had fixed me a pot of coffee late yesterday afternoon. I was wanting some coffee so bad, so I fixed a pot. I guess that is what kept me awake. I do drink Foldgers 1/2 Caffeine tho. I will just have to get me a can of regular decaf for next time I want some coffee at night. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
What a nice award!! Thank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about green tea !!This is good to know!!
I am glad you got these nice awards you are so deserving on everyone of them!!! Love and Hugs, Carolyn
Karen,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got some much needed rest. I don't drink coffee at night, but do have a lot of trouble sleeping. I'm not sure why. The last two years my sleep patterns have been out of whack really bad.
You're welcome for the card. I thought it was so pretty and always like to leave a card or a little something for my readers.
The green tea won't hurt anything and it is tasty. It has many health benefits according to the information I've read on it. I also have type 2 diabetes, so am going to get some.
Take care, Karen. I hope your DH will be home over the weekend.
Blessings,
Mary
Grams,
ReplyDeleteYou are very deserving of the award and am glad you like it. I miss you but hope you are well on your way to recovery.
Blessings,
Mary

I love sun tea. Decaf of course, but it's oh so good poured over ice in the summer!!!
And here I am a "tea lover" and I did not know it was National Tea Month. I do know we Red Hats have a tea planned for the 28th of this month for a group of 20 women in an assisted living home in our community. It should be quite fun!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and all you chose for the awards!
Have a warm and happy day!
Anni,

I have never tasted sun tea. Do you have a recipe?
Love and blessings,

I wonder if we have a Red Hat society here.

I am from here and I did not even know that here celebrates a national tea month. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards.
Sweet things for a sweet person.
Mama Bear,
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a lot of snow here. Just an inch or two, but it made driving conditions pretty bad at the beginning of the week. The boys really were rooting for a snow day from school. That didn't happen. LOL
Blessings,
Mary
Sharon,
ReplyDeleteYou sneaked in while I was answering other posts. I hope you enjoy national tea day. Thanks for the compliments on the awards.
Blessings,
Mary

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your awards, I can not think of a more deserving recipient.
Thanks for the tea tutorial - I have tea every day, but didn't know that it was a special day here in the US! I drink green tea a lot because of its positive properties - so far haven't seen any weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI love tea, and I love you my friend. I have an award for you, come by my blog.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mary! You deserve them!
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing the facts about tea. I wish I could come over and have a cup with you and visit! Or have you come over here for a visit, wouldn't that be fun! I never realized that tea was a diuretic, maybe I'll start drinking it in the afternoons.
Have a happy day! Sharon
I didn't know it was tea month. Perhaps the kids and I can have a tea party. Thanks for sharing with us.

Have a great weekend and give those girlies a hug for me.

Mary
Denise,
ReplyDeleteOh my, another award. Thanks in advance. I will be over in a while.
Blessings and love,

Sharon,
ReplyDeleteYes, tea is a natural diuretic. I would love to have a cup of tea with you and share some time together. Maybe one day we can do that. Oregon is a long way from here, but maybe someday...
Blessings,
Mary
Pam,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. My grandsons would probably enjoy having a tea party too. Though we don't live in the US, we can still celebrate.
Thanks for dropping by.

Good morning dear Mary:-)
ReplyDeleteFinally taking some time to visit a few friends this morning!! I'm so missing being a regular blogger.
Congratulations on the awards, my friend, and thank you so much for passing one on to me! I appreciate it so very much and it warms my heart to know that you thought of me:-) Thank you!!!
I've never cared for tea until one day last year I decided to try the Apple Cinnamon tea at Tim's Horton. I loved it and now order it quite often. I've never had Green Tea or any other so I really should give them a try. From what you've found, they really are good for you!!
Have a great day, dear Mary, and know that I'm thinking of you! xoxo
I enjoyed reading your tea information! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
