I'm Starting Early

Can you tell from the graphic what I did today? Yes, I'm starting early. I bought the first Christmas present for the upcoming holiday. Well, that isn't exactly true. I bought a couple of things just after Christmas last year.

I always like to start my Christmas shopping early. Why? Because after the end of September it seems that prices escalate quite a bit. Another reason is that I dislike crowds and all the Christmas hype that goes with them. Usually I have to pick up a few last minute things and that is enough for me.

Keep in mind that Christmas is only 16 weeks and one day from today. Most of the year is over. Summer has gone by in a flash and fall is in the air. Before we know it, it will be December 1st and the Christmas rush will be on.

Enjoy the autumn scents and colors as they come on later this month. I enjoy autumn but am not looking forward to winter. I guess I'm getting old.

Blessings, ~Mary~

  1. I seem to always have been a wait to the last minute kind of person..*sigh*

I do admire people that start early. My daughter is like you. She thinks Christmas all year long. She's always ahead of the game.

  2. Guess what - I bought my first Christmas gift today too! I try to pick up a little at a time - it's easier on the wallet that way!

  4. OH.....you're my kinda gal! I buy gifts year 'round if I find something I know someone will like! We're both on the 'clever side' if you ask me. Way to go dear heart. You did good. Soon there'll be pine scents in our homes again....ahhh, a good, peaceful, time of year. And I just KNOW you got a good price. Like you say, by December 1st prices are 'jacked up' until December 24th...and who wants to fight the crowds of last minute shoppers. [Some find that exhilarating,----not me!]

    High 5!!!

  5. I am the same! I have a few things already. The move may interfere with my shopping. I usually try to mail our son&co gifts by November 1st. They may all get money this year. The grands already want money. It cuts down on the expense of packaging and mailing any way.
We still have several Birthdays to get through before Christmas.
I love taking my time to find the right gift for someone special and if I see it during the year, I go ahead and buy it.

  6. I almost always do my Christmas shopping, year-round. I can't always depend on being able to get out and about to do shopping if I wait and then, I have problems finding appropriate gifts too. I have two gifts partially done now -one is the blue table runner, which is completed but still have the four napkins to embroider that go with it. And the other is the Christmas green tabletopper square cloth with the white trees and snowflakes. I have three of the four sides completed now and if I am lucky, might be able to get it completed today or tomorrow at the latest. Then I can start something else. I only have 7 other table runners and two other table toppers waiting plus I just ordered 3 more table toppers and yet another table runner to embroider. Wish me luck and that my interest level stays high enough to keep at these projects!

I do shop for Christmas and Birthdays each time I go shopping. I usually find some little thing that I know someone would like and then when Christmas and Birthdays come, I just open the boxes I have put things in year round and find an appropriate gift. I found some great basket covers the other day and I can put a bunch of different items in a basket for friends and family. Isn't it great to find something and know someone who would like it? No better feeling than the joy you get from their expression when they open it up. Peace be with you.

  8. I used to do all my Christmas shopping early....by October I would be finished. But with so little space for storage....it is not happening anymore.
I don't even know where I will hide the things once I get the few things I will get. Hmmm...I'll have to think about that one.
Since we have not been here during the winter I'll have to let you know what I think of winter once we get into it.
It ought to be pretty interesting if we are still in the camper.
I'm giving away a little something..come by and put your name in.

  9. I'm a "shop all year round" kind of person. If we are out some where and I see something that makes me think of the other person I grab it up quick and save it. Of course I don't keep track of what I've bought which is a whole different story.

Thanks for stopping by my place and for your kind comments. I still have problems with the linky-thingy but I've decided it's my computer and has absolutely nothing to do with me :0

  12. Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?

My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing
several weeks of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any solutions to stop hackers?
