Mountains - Yes, I've had the privledge of seeing the Rocky Mountains of Canada. It was in 1974, when my daughter was five years old. We flew to Cranbrook, British Columbia to visit her father's relatives. The City of Cranbrook is surrounded by two mountain ranges...the Rockies and the Purcells. Here are a couple of photos of the area.
The Rockies
The Purcells
The Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

So now you can see why I love the mountains. I would love to live in this small city in the Interior of British Columbia.
Meeko - Meeko is our Alaskan malamute and I love him dearly. He is a great companion and would give his life to protect us. Though he is usually very laid back, he can become very cross when strangers approach our property. He is sociable when he is out for a walk and never challenges other dogs, but if they challenge him he can become a bit irritated.
Meeko on the Alert
Michelle - My only child, my daughter, Michelle. She will be 40 in a couple of weeks. Where has the time gone. She is a pharmacy technician, holds down her job and raises two sons, ages 11 and 13, one of which is on the Autism Spectrum.
Margaret - My mother who is 81 years old and very independent. She has many talents. She can paint, do a wide variety of crafts. Mom sews, quilts and writes poetry.
Mary Margaret - I love the name that my parents gave me. The Mary was for my maternal grandmother...Margaret for my mother. I've always been very interested in the women of the Bible whose names start with M. Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary and Martha and Mary Magdalene have all piqued my interest. What were their daily lives like? How did they withstand the crucifixtion and still maintain their faith. These are just a few of the questions that I'd like to find the answers to.
Mysteries - I love reading mysteries.
Mockingbird - I had never seen a mockingbird until 2005. On a trip to Arkansas, a bird was singing in a large tree outside of a motel room. The song intrigued me, as did his appearance. I asked the owner of the motel what kind of bird it was and she told me it was a mockingbird. One of my favorite books is To Kill a Mockingbird.
Macaroni & Cheese - I love macaroni and cheese made the way that my grandmother cooked it. Mom can come very close to duplicating it. It is delicious.
Moose - We have moose in Ontario and I have seen them from a distance. They are one of my favorite animals. They are so ugly they are magnificent. There's nothing like seeing a moose in its natural habitat...however, use caution. Moose will charge at the slightest provocation, especially in rutting season, which is in the fall.
Moon - I love walking at night when the moon is full and the moonbeams light my path. Meeko and I often take a longer walk on nights when the moon is full. There's something magical about the moon on freshly fallen snow or its reflection on the water. One of my favorite things to do with my protector, Meeko.
I hope you've enjoyed my answers to the meme. I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you'd like to participate, please let me know and I will send you a letter. ~Blessings, Mary~
I've only been in The Rockies once (not one day but one holiday). It was too wonderful. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Mary!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the Rocky Mountains some day, and I cherish my visits to the Ozark Mountains.
Mockingbirds are common here in Arkansas and I see and hear them year round. They're very tolerant of people and will get very close. Sometimes if you whistle to them they will mimic you!
Hope all is well with you and yours. We're all doing pretty good here. I'm fighting allergies again, but that's the story of my life it seems.
Much Love,
Diane
Well, that turned out to be a very good letter for you. I love macaroni and cheese, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the mountains - the Rockies here in Colorado. You must come visit our part of the Rockies!
I also love mysteries. And the moose - we saw two one day as we drove through the mountains. Really fun, and really ugly, you're right.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your M's. I love mountains as well, but have not seen the rockies. Have seen the Alps though. Love the picture of Meeko. He sure is a handsome boy!
Mary I am sorry I am so late in visiting. Have not had time for much lately. Things will be settling down a bit next week, so I'll be able to do more visiting and posting a new post. Sorry I missed the meme you tagged me for.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Renie
I love your M things! The picture of the Northern Lights is beautiful! I love lots of M things too, including a blog called Mary's Writing Nook!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting post! My son turned 40 last November, I think that makes me old...........lol..........
ReplyDeleteThe moutain photos are gorgeous and what is not to love about mac and cheese.
WOW! "M" was a great letter for you!
ReplyDeleteI have done this one before. I've been to the Rockies -- but that's about it for me... The Aurora Borealis! WOW!
I would LOVE to have you join in on the photo challenge -- You can see the full explanation HERE.
I've seen the Canadian Rockies and they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOut my kitchen window I can see the parcel mountain range.
Actual I'm not that far from Cranbrook about and 1 and 1/2 hour drive.
I like home made mac and cheese not meaning to brag but I do make a good batch of it.
As for moose I've seen quite a few of them and the other day for the first time I saw a small heard going down the road in our neighborhood.
Coffee is on.
I really liked this... and please send me a letter. I would love to do this as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Jess
we live about 2 hours from the mountains- on a clear day on a hilly spot we can see those mountains= I have been to the mountains more than once- I did not like the feel of driving through the mountains but it was ok to be in them - I am a prairie girl so it did feel a bit strange= I remember be surprized that trees grow on mountains - and the snow stays most of the time- hugs, from Meme who will do an alphabet thought for fun
ReplyDeleteMary, you can send me a letter. This meme looks like fun. My Dad will be going home today and so I will be able to blog more often once again. He has been visiting for the last 5 days.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
What an EXCELLENT list of ten "m" favorites Mary. Purely excellent. It couldn't be more perfect if you want my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMeeko is such a doll. The mountains....the Purcells? I believe you called the particular range?---they look like the ones in Colorado a lot...the one range we call the San Juans that I see when I'm looking through my sister's patio door. Beautiful.
And walking in the moonlight...wow, a romantic!!! I love that fact.
Again, great job.
I think you did a good job. How neat that you, your Mother, grandmother and your daughter all have names beginning with M. I loved seeing the mountains and thank you for sending me the Borelis pictures by email. I love Mac & cheese, just about any kind. When I was in nursing school, the cafeteria had the best. I would make that my lunch lots of days.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that you didn't have Mocking Birds in Canada. They are an interesting bird in that they imitate all the other birds' sounds. We've had them breed in our yard and watched them feeding their young. They are very territorial. In the Spring the male will sing to attract a mate. Once they've mated, they do not sing again until the young leave the nest. Or so I've read.
Blessings,
Mama Bear
I forgot to tell you that I would do this meme if you send me a letter.
ReplyDeleteMama Bear
Great job on "M", greatly enjoyed reading your list! Did you know the Mockingbird will dive bomb a cat (or a person LOL!) if it gets near his nest?...they are fearless in defending their babies and I have seen cats hunker down in fear of getting a nasty peck on the head.
ReplyDeleteSad to say that I've only had Mac n Cheese out of a box, but I've been told that homemade is delish!
You enjoy mysteries...I just checked a Sneaky Pie Brown (cat) book out of the library. It's called Santa Clawed by Rita Mae Brown.
Annie of Hootin' Annie has assigned me the letter "P", so I'll have to think on that!
Hi Mary! I didn't know your Mother's name was Margaret! That is my sister's name, I also have a cousin named Mary Margaret.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures of the Rocky Mountains are beautiful!!
Love and hugs Grams
I have seen the Rocky Mountains in Colorado! We used to ski in our younger years, the mountains are beautiful. Such good things to love that start with the letter M.
ReplyDeleteDearest Mary,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a terrific job of finding things you love that starts with the letter M!! I've been to BC twice (my two older brothers live there) and I agree with you, seeing those mountains all around you is absolutely awesome! I remember when I got back home after two weeks of being there, I so missed seeing those mountains:-)
I have never seen a mockingbird in real life! You've just made me realize that! lol Meeko is such a beautiful dog and I hope to meet him one day:-)
I sold a bunch of stuff on eBay yesterday and today was spent trying to package it all up, finding the shipping costs, etc. before finally mailing everything...that's a full time job! lol Love you my friend. xoxo
Marvelously magnificent!!! I enjoyed all the photos and things on your 'm' list. Last year Lucy gave me 'p' and 'v' for letters and I did one at Small Reflections and the other at Sacred Ruminations ... but methinks I'll pass on this one for now because I'm trying desperately to catch up in general.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteSend me a letter. This sounds fun.
We had a Malamute. He was a great dog & was the same way he wouldn't start a fight & mostly ignored other dogs, but he was very protective.
I like them all!!!! God job...m.
