Memories: Wedding

This really should have been posted on Thursday. On April 16, 1966, Michelle's father, Lynn, and I were married. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and everything was perfect.

Not many attended our wedding. Both sets of parents and grandparents were there. My brother and his girlfriend came, my sister and my friend were bridesmaids and Lynn's brother and uncle stood up with him. That was the entire group. We were married in the manse, which was quite small and we had to crowd into the living room while the ceremony took place.

Aunts and uncles were invited to the reception, which we had in a little rural community hall. We had a dance but it all wound down early. Then we went back to the little apartment that we had rented. That was our honeymoon.

Lynn passed away in December 1977, but each year when April rolls around, I remember the young boy and girl (yes, we were just kids) who were married that beautiful spring day.

Hope you enjoyed the memories. Have a great weekend. ~Blessings, Mary~

  6. This is a nice memory and a great photo of you and your first husband. Thanks for sharing this memory with us.

My uncle gave me the clematis vines. He has white, light pink, and the same purple that I have. He just pulled up some out of his yard and brought them to me...all of mine are the same color.. I have four.

My DIL gave me one that is a smaller flower and a different purple color. That one is not blooming right now. I will post one of that one later if I remember..

All the Iris are about to bloom... the one purple and white that I posted today is the only one fully open...

Most of the blooms in my yard were given to me by family and friends and every year when they bloom I remember them.

  8. sweet memories. It seems we were just 'kids' when we married too but that was the way it was then. I was only 20 and now it seems sooo very young. Your husband was a handsome man and you a beautiful bride, thanks for sharing such a precious memory.

  12. Thanks for sharing your memories with us. I know those years are still very special to you.

I did a post today for "I Remember When". When I went to Speaking from the heart to link it there, it said the blog was by invitation only. Do you know what is up with that?

I've been trying to catch up on all the happenings during my break and was so sorry to read about the pain you've been having. Is it any better?
