Show and Tell Friday

This week I've been experimenting with cotton yarn. I always loved to crochet. After my accident I was unable to do it for many years. Lately I ran across some patterns online and decided to try my hand at making dish cloths and wash cloths.

I had never used a crocheted cotton dish cloth until earlier this month. I love them. They are durable, soft and absorbent. They are like no store bought dish cloth in the world. Of course handmade is always better.

The dish cloths above were my first attempt and I must say they turned out fairy well. I love the colors of the variegated one and made plain ones to match the color in it.

This is my favorite out of this set. It cleans dishes like nothing else can. The others are nice and give a little variety in pattern.
I ran across some very pretty 100% cotton yarn and thought these would make marvelous face cloths for children.

Such a pretty turquoise color. Very nice for a little girl.

A variegated one that matches the turquoise perfectly.

This set consists of two variegated and one solid.
It was nice to be able to crochet again, even if it is just small projects such as these, which will be listed in my Etsy shop.

  3. I make dishcloths like these too -cotton thread (Sugar and Spice) and it works up great plus these things do a terrific job in hot water too! Let me know how you fare with them on your Etsy site as I've been considering adding things like that to my Etsy site -once I get it set up that is.

  4. I don't crochet, but I love crochet dishcloths and have used them for a long time. Someone is always selling them at craft bazaars in our area. You did a good job on yours.

  5. Quite a few years ago when mom was spending her Winters in Florida, she started bringing me some of these dish cloths which a lady in their trailer park made and sold...I've been hooked on them ever since! I don't know how to crochet or knit so whenever I go to a craft fair I always buy quite a few:-) As you say, they are so wonderful to use. You really did a terrific job making them and love the colours you chose.

Now that the nicer weather has arrived...well it is freezing out today but sunny...Steve & I will be starting to plan trips again. We definitely want to see you again so we'll let you know when we head out:-)

Sounds like you've been very busy, especially with your Etsy shop and I'm just so thrilled for you that it's going so well! I must visit it soon and see what you have:-) Been so behind bloggy visits lately with being gone out of town two weekends in a row for 3-4 days each time, my regular routine was nil. Steve was kept busy playing my Facebook games for me! lol

Take care, dear friend, and hope to get a call in soon!! xoxo

  9. I just learned to crochet and am working on some dish clothes too. My first one has a lot of mistakes and I think it's too loose but I am doing my others a little tighter so they don't stretch too much when I use them in water!!!
