Update on Mom

Mom has been released from hospital. They did an MRI and determined that she could be released if she could stay with someone. She choose to go to my niece's (her granddaughter's.) Her speech has been affected by the stroke. They're calling this one a major one and she has had a major stroke before that we had no idea about. She has had many mini strokes or TIAs.

She will be getting speech therapy and she has to see a neurologist. She still has a urinary tract infection and they didn't give her a prescription for antibiotics when she left the hospital, so our problems aren't over yet.

It's been crazy hectic around here and it's taking its toll. I'm tired. The stress of this year has been a little hard to handle, but what doesn't kill you makes you strong. By this point I should be super woman. LOL

One of these days I will have time to visit everyone and play catch up. I hope it is soon.

  2. I took care of my mom for the first three months this year. She had a stroke after several mini strokes. She was able to get well and return to taking care of her self and go back home. Today her doctor called to tell me that she is concerned about an xray done this week. My husband is just 6 days home from a triple bypass. My sister June has taken mama to the doctor in my absence. This has been a difficult year for me too.. I feel for you, Mary! I pray that you will be able to keep on getting better yourself and that your mom will recover also. (((hugs)))

  4. May God go with you and grant you Peace. When you get overwhemed, stop and take a deep breath and at the same time count your blessings. You biggest Blessing even though she is sick at least she is still with you. Since mine has been gone since 98, I would love to have that blessing. Take care of yourself. Love

  5. Well, TIAs ARE strokes...not mini strokes as some think. At least that is what I learned working with doctors before. In reality, it is a stroke that has been locally resolved or improved functionality to the affected body part.

    Hope she'll improve with time.

Sorry I haven't been visiting much, it's just been a very busy time for Bud and me these past couple weeks.

  6. Glad to hear that she's staying with your niece and not you...you have enough on your hands without having to take care of her. I know you would if you could but you need to take care of YOU first!! Praying that her therapy all goes well. It's no wonder you're tired and stressed, you've had more than your share of unwanted events happen! Will call you next week. xoxo
