Beautiful Things from Beautiful Friends

I know I've already posted for today, but just couldn't resist showing you all of the beautiful things that happened to me late this afternoon.

My hubby and I had a lot of running around to do today. We renewed our CAA membership so we would have coverage if we needed a boost, a tow or other auto services during the winter and during our trip to Florida. That was very successful. We went to Zellers (Canadian department store) and bought a few things for the grandsons to do while we're on the road. The key to keeping the boys from driving us insane is to give them lots to keep them busy. Hubby bought them each a small Transformer, we bought a bit of candy for their stockings and they each are getting a Doodle Art. We also bought Crayola Window Writers so they could draw pictures on the van windows while on the trip. At first hubby said no, but when I reminded him that they get really bored while driving, he agreed. Window Writers are washable, so all we need is a bottle of glass cleaner and some paper towel. Each day the boys will be able to create new designs.

When we got home late this afternoon, hubby asked me if I had checked the mail today. I hadn't, so he went and got it. I received my first Christmas card of the year. I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. I send out a lot each year. Here is a photo of the beautiful card I received today. It was from Pea, at Pea's Corner and I absolutely love it! Thanks, Pea. You brightened my day.

The envelope had beautiful stickers on it and I was going to post a photo of it and then realized I would be giving both Pea's and my addresses to the world. This card means a lot to me. It is one that I will cherish and place in my card collection.

After we had dinner, I came to the computer and began visiting some of the people who had visited my blog. When I visited Vic Grace at Cariboo Ponderer, she had some nice awards posted and invited all of her readers to pick up a copy. Here they are:

Now, since I have so many faithful readers and blogging friends who visit my blog and support me with their kind words and love, I would like anyone who expresses a winning attitude to take a copy of the first award. Everyone who visits me is welcome to a copy of the second award.
You won't believe this, but speaking of cards, here is a photo of the ones I have to write for hubby to give out to clients. I did 38 of them last night and will be writing more tonight. It's a good thing that I love making out Christmas cards.

It only took me about a half hour to make out 38 cards last night. I still have about 140 to do, so that is what I will be doing in the evening for the next couple of nights.

No farm today. I was just plain too tuckered out. Jordan was a bit disappointed, but I think sometime over the weekend I'll ask the boys to come over here tobogganing. There is a lovely hill just across the street, though it isn't as steep as the one at the farm. However, they will have fun and I will give them hot chocolate when they come in freezing and wet. I will have to be sure to hide all the Christmas presents and candy.

I sometimes forget that my friends in the South aren't familiar with some of the terms used in my posts. Tobogganing is basically sledding, only a toboggan is long and sits more than one person. Here is a toboggan:
I hope that makes things a little clearer for some of you. If I ever mention something that you don't know what is, go ahead and ask.
Well, this post is getting way too long, so I better quit thinking of things to tell you and go and write some Christmas cards. Blessings ~Mary~

  4. Connie,

I have not decorated much either. Since we are going to Florida on Dec. 27th, we're not putting up our traditional live tree, but did get a tiny one that came with some tiny decorations. We can then plant it in the yard next spring.

It's all creeping up on us, but I'm going to let go and let God. What doesn't get done will just have to stay undone. I do have all the gifts but one bought and now must get them wrapped.

I enjoyed your visit and hope you'll come back soon.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  5. Grams,

If it has been snowing there all day I think Kelly will be on top of the world.

Things have been hectic, but that is okay. What gets done will be done and what isn't will just get left undone.

    Enjoyed your visit, as always.

    Love and hugs,
    Mary

  9. BJ,

I really like to have all of my cards sent out by December 1st, but nothing is going as planned this year. At least I have sent mine now and just have the ones to do for hubby.

Thanks for visiting. I'm glad you were able to get some of your cards done.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  10. Willow,

You will get it done and I probably will too. I don't usually do anything until around the middle of December, but since we're leaving on vacation, I wanted to have it done early.

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your visit, as always.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  12. Denise,

I'm afraid that sometimes things get left while I blog. I blog in the evening instead of watching tv. I'm not a big tv watcher, but do like the odd show.

I'm glad your Dad enjoyed the card I sent. I love him. He's such a dear.

I sent my cards yesterday but still have hubby's to do.

Take care and God bless. Love you!
    Mary

  14. Denise,

Oh, the depression didn't last long. Only a couple of days and now I am fine again. Prayer is certainly Powerful. Thanks my dear friend. Hope you are also feeling better.

  15. I love your picture of a classic toboggan, no plastic imposture. The toboggan is one of the useful technologies used in our area for which we can thank First Nations people. Other include, canoe, snowshoe, curved knife, maple sugaring process. Eouropean's ready adoption of these has made life, and Winter, in particular, much more liveable.

  16. Now, just a gosh darn minute....ONE HUNDRED and FORTY?!!

:::phew::: that's a lotta work if you ask me. My wrist would get tired after the first 30 or so.

    You amaze me.

    {I added a bit to my Friday's blog too since you were there last}

  17. The toboggan brings back good memories. I have only done it once with my dad when I was little. I remember the snow flakes in my eyes.
    Fun times.
I have done some card work in the past. But with things so busy I have not had time to even think about it. When you get my card you will love it but it did come from Dayspring.

  18. Mary - after the plumbing problems you deserved some beautiful things. I'm glad you did an extra post to share :)

I need to get busy with MY cards. I don't even have an idea what I'm going to do yet and it's already the 7th ... sheesh! Gotta stop all this Blogging and get in a creative Christmasy mood.
    Hugs and blessings,
