Show and Tell Friday

Show and Tell Friday is hosted by Kelli at There is No Place Like Home. If you would like to participate, please click on the link to Kelli's blog for more information. Thanks, Kelli, for hosting Show and Tell Friday.

Today I would like to show you the beautiful Christmas angel that my mother made for me five years ago. It has always adorned the top of our Christmas tree ever since. She is beautiful and I just love her. She has porcelain hands and face. She looks so real. Mom put a lot of effort into making this angel and one for my sister as well. She is a cherished part of my Christmas traditions.

Mom is a very talented woman. She can sew, make beautiful crafts and quilts. Everyone of her great-grandchildren has a quilt that she made them and she has the quilt tops done for each of her children. She is 80 years old and is busy every day. She is a devote Christian woman of whom I am very proud. She brought three children up through very lean times and went without to provide for us.

Someone is having a Birthday. It's Baba from Baba's Blog. I hope you have a wonderful day. Enjoy! I wish you many more. Please drop over and wish Baba a Happy Birthday.

Thank you for dropping by my Show and Tell. Blessings, ~Mary~

Your mom sounds like a true treasure, as well!

My own mom is 80 also, and though she's never been blessed with sewing talents, she is a blessing in our lives as well.

  13. What a precious keepsake. I'm not much of a crafter, but I pray that at least some of the gifts that I give my loved ones will be cherished like you cherish your angel.

    God bless,

  25. Ellenb,

Yes, Mom loves the Lord, as did her mother and father and her grandfather. I come from a long line of devote Christians and am very proud of this lineage. I remember great-grandpa telling me that he would soon be leaving to go to a better home. He knew he was dying and didn't want me to be sad. I was quite young, but I remember his description and telling me we would meet again.

    Thanks for visiting.
    Blessings,

  30. Mary,,, I am a bit behind on reading your posts... It has been a long two days... that angel is wonderful and something that I am sure you will treasure for years... My grandmother was quite the little seamstress... and I came into all of her quilt tops a couple of years ago.. There are about 13 of them.. There are about 6 tops ready to quilt and about 7 tops that need to be put together... I have finished two of them ( by hand I might add) but I think I will need to have the rest machine quilted and give one each to the other grandchildren.. This comment has gotten too long so I will say goodnight...

  31. Maybe I will take a picture of one of them that I have finished and Show and Tell next Friday.....

  33. Denise,

I would love to see a photo of the quilt tops that you've finished. I can put them on the frames and put the batting in, but don't know how to finish them. I've helped Mom handstitch many quilts on those old frames that my Dad made.

Take care, my friend and thanks so much for stopping by.

    Love and hugs,
    Mary

  36. What a beautiful angel. My Mom collects angles. What a lovely thing to have to put on your tree.

Mary we have family coming in this weekend and then on Monday Paw Paw has his bone marrow biopsy procedure.
I have gone ahead and put my post up and linked to your blog. I was afraid that if I did not get it done now something might happen and it would get messed up. When you post I will change the link to that post. I don't know if you continued any further with Mr Linky. If you did then I will come over and link with you when it is up.
Let me know if you have questions.

  38. Good Morning Mary,
I just love, love, love your Angel. She is so beautiful. Wow, you Mother sounds like my Mom. My Mom can sew, craft, and do all kinds of things. She has even made quilt tops as well. She has someone else do the quilting part tho. My Mom just turned 70 back in November. We are going to see my Great-Aunt tomorrow who will be celebrating her 98th Birthday. I just finished putting a post for today. It is another rainy day here in the South. Well, take care my friend and have a great Saturday. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Hugs,
    Karen H.

  40. Oh, Mary! She is beautiful! What a talent your mom has. I met one older lady who made porcilian dolls, and I was extreemly fasinated because I never heard of someone making those dolls. I always thought they were made in factories. ;-)

Anyway, your angel is *very* pretty and I am sure she will become a very treasured heirloom.

I also wanted to let you know that I am going to have cut down my time on visiting blogs until Christmas is over because I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. So, please forgive me. I really enjoy coming here and visiting. :)

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I always enjoy visiting with you.

    Sharon,

I have had a very busy day with Brandon here and trying to get everything done. I will check out your post and make one of my own.

No, Mr. Linky still hasn't sent me an e-mail and I have checked in my junk folder. I'm not sure what is going on with that, but I will certainly direct people to you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Paw Paw. Please let me know how things go.

    Blessings my Sister,
    Mary

    Karen,

Thank you for the kind comments on the angel. I'm so glad that your mother is so talented. You too must have some wonderful treasures. Thank you for sharing with me.

    Melanie,

Thank you so much for your kind comments. The angel is one of my most treasured Christmas decorations, along with others Mom has made.

    Mommy,

There is a lady that lives just outside of town that makes porcelain dolls and Mom has made some as well. They are beautiful.

I understand about not being able to read blogs at this time of year. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family.

  44. Pea,

You are welcome for the card. I love making cards for dear friends and am glad you like it. One of the best things about Christmas is making others smile.

Thanks so much for the kind comments on the angel. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing her.

  45. What a beautiful angel! Your mother reminds me of my great grandmother. She was such a lovely woman from the inside out, made the most wonderful craft items and was a Christian woman I sincerely admired. She made dish bottle dolls and did all the stitching on their dresses by hand up until she passed away at 100 years old. Thank you so much for sharing about your mother.

Sounds like you have quite the week also. The things you bought for the grandsons sound so much fun; I'm sure they won't have time to get restless.

  46. Cynthia,

Thanks so much for your kind words about Mom. I appreciate it.

Your great-grandmother sounds like she was a wonderful woman. I well remember those dish soap dolls.

It sounds that you come for a family of longevity. My grandfather was 93 when he died. Mom is 80. Great-grandpa was 85.

I enjoyed your visit, as always.
