Green Thumb Sunday

It's Green Thumb Sunday, hosted by Tricia at As the Garden Grows. If you'd like to participate, just click on the link to find out how.

Yes, it's time for Green Thumb Sunday and my garden isn't doing much to cooperate. Last week I showed you the tulips that are blooming there and also my rhubarb. Well, the rhubarb is doing good and should soon be ready for the first pulling, but nothing else much going on. My clematis has dozens of buds, but it will be a few days before it blooms. Maybe next week I will have photos for that.

Upon reflection I realized I had nothing to offer for Green Thumb Sunday, so started going through my Florida photos to see if I could show you some of my favorite places. I know these aren't my garden nor my green thumb, but hope that you enjoy them.

The photos above show some of the most relaxing places in Disney's Animal Kingdom. There's nothing like the soothing sound of water to help you relax. There are benches near the streams where I love to sit and have a few minutes of quiet and reflect on all that I've seen.
Above is the Tree of Life, which was seen in Disney's movie, The Lion King. This tree is 14 stories high and 50 feet wide. There are 325 carvings of animals on this tree, carved by 20 artists and they are amazing. You see it as you emerge from the Oasis and to make it even more amazing, there are 100,000 leaves on the Tree. It took thousands of people 18 months to construct it. It is definitely a technological wonder.
Take care and have a wonderful Sunday. ~Blessings, Mary~

  1. Nice photos Mary. No green thumb here either. I’m glad you enjoy your visits to my blog. It is always a pleasure to see you have stopped by. I hope you have a good weekend with your grandsons too. Ours just left and we did have fun!

  2. I love water in nature and flowing water in gardens. If I had money and the health to work at it I'd have a pond and water feature in my yard.

Hope everyone is back to health and you're having a good weekend, Mary. :o)

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  6. First I would like to comment on your previous post. I am sickened and furious the way your tenant has treated you. Out of kindness you took him in and this is the way he has repaid you. I know we are supposed to go beyond the call of duty to help the needy but I think you have gone WAY BEYOND what is expected. I hope you are being careful keeping your doors locked as this guy sounds like he could be a bit dangerous. We have rentals too and it always amazes me how some of them leave the apartments in such filth. We rent to a lot of college kids as we are near University of Maine and that is another whole story believe me! Get rid of him just as soon as you can.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest I will take a deep breath and comment on your lovely pictures from Animal Kingdom. They are just beautiful and the Tree of Life never ceases to amaze me everytime I see it! Just beautiful!

I will do your meme this week, I don't think I have ever done that one.

I missed an opportunity to do a random act of kindness this week and it has bothered me all week. I didn't act soon enough and the person was out the door at McD's. The credit card machine wasn't working so he didn't have money to buy his lunch and I should have bought it for him. Makes me so mad that I hesitated!

  9. Good Afternoon Mary,
I enjoyed your Green Thumb Sunday pictures from your vacation. The Tree of Life is beautiful and I would love to see it someday. I bet it is really neat looking with all those animals on it. I'm like Diane, I enjoy seeing waterfalls on the outside. They seem to be so serene and calming. I read your previous post about your tenant. That is just so sad in how the young man has treated yall. Some people just have no appreciation for anything or anyone. I don't blame you for finally losing it. I would have lost it long before now. I don't know for sure, but it kind of sounds like the young man may be on drugs or something. I sure hope not. I will be keeping you and your hubby in my prayers as you continue to deal with this terrible situation. I did put up a new post early this morning. I have been down with a bad toothache and have been taking antibiotics and ibuprofen. I had to get up a few minutes ago and eat a snack and take another antibiotic. I am out visiting a bit as well. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  11. Hi Mary,
Just catching up on your news and your previous post made me feel so bad..I don't understand what gets into some people. Your tenant will have to deal with his actions someday and be judged by a far greater Power.
On to happier things: I'd dearly love to see that tree of life at Disney if we ever get to the East Coast (there isn't one at Disneyland)
I have lots of flowers blooming if you get a chance to visit!
