October in Canada

October is a beautiful month in Canada. All of the trees don their beautiful autumn gowns and bright splashes of red, orange, yellow and brown look marvelous on a backdrop of evergreens.

A lot goes on in Canada during October. It is Autism Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Women's History Month. I will be touching on all of these subjects during October.

Best of all, Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada during the month of October. It is a time to give thanks for the harvest, for the love of family and friends and for all other blessings received during the year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday after Christmas. This year it will be celebrated on October 13th, which is my friend Pea's birthday.

The above graphic is public domain. Feel free to take a copy if you wish.
Have a great day and enjoy the sights, sounds and fragrances of the season. ~Blessings, Mary~

  1. Thanks, Mary - I loved the graphic so I borrowed it for future usage!
BTW -you asked me a question that I neglected to answer but thought of it now while reading your post -the part about Pea and Oct. 13th. Mine is Oct. 8th and Miss Maya's is Oct 18th.
Just send pie please -preferably lemon meringue or cherry cheesecake!

  7. How interesting … I’ll look forward to seeing all the Fall Colors you share since I won’t see much of that here in Southern California. I'm wondering how your Aunt is doing so I hope you'll update us again soon. Thanks for sharing the Thanksgiving graphic ;--)

Love that graphic...the other day I was browsing the net and found quite a few nice Victorian graphics for Christmas and other holidays.

Hope your week is going well, my friend. Another cold and rainy day here. xoxo

And I so wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in October--it would give us a little break from turkey.

  10. I noticed that holiday on my calendar.
Our colors usually peak about the second week of November so we have a ways to go. I did see a little color on a Red Maple this morning.

One thing about the cooler temperatures that I look forward to in October is less electicity use and a lower bill.

  13. Thanks for the reminder about Canadian Thanksgiving. I know, I know, I should remember but I've lived here so long it almost seems foreign to me.

  16. I love October as well, and our colors are starting to mosey on in, but we won't peak until the second week of November. We had a cooler, beautiful weather this week, but will be back into the 80s by the weekend and next week. Very pleasant weather, with cool nights for good sleeping.

Thank you for sharing the lovely graphic.

    Happy October!

    Hugs,

    Renie

  17. Hello Mary! I know it's been awhile. It's hard to keep up with my favorite blogs, mine, housework, kids and homeschooling.

But I am finding my way through it all! :)

    Happy Thanksgiving to you! :)
