This week I'm going to show my readers a little autumn decorating that the boys and I did last weekend when they stayed over on Friday night. I had picked up a few things up at the dollar store and we had fun putting everything in place.I bought two miniature scarecrows on skewers especially to put in my plants. The boys put them in my snake and spider plants. My patio table has a little of an autumn look. The snake plant has sat beside the boy with the watering can all summer. The spider hung from the porch and the Wandering Jew was sitting on the porch railing. When the nights turned cold, I moved the spider and the Wandering Jew to where they would be more protected. It won't be long before I have to bring them inside for the winter.
Last Sunday after hubby and I visited Princess Point, we stopped at Michael's. Now all my regular readers will know that I love scarecrows and that is the first thing we saw when we pulled into the parking lot. They were 50% off and fit right into our budget.
My fairies make my garden look a little magical at night when the solar lights come on. I enjoy seeing them in the flower bed just outside the side door. If you notice, there are a few colored leaves laying just to the left of the bricks that form the border. Yes, the leaves are beginning to turn.
I love autumn. It is one of my favorite time of year; the other being spring. I love the cooler temperatures and the trees dressed in their colorful autumn gowns. The evergreen trees form a beautiful contrasting background to the mix. I can't wait to get out and about with my camera as autumn moves into full swing.
Enjoy the day and be sure to take some time out for rest and relaxation. Read a book, play a game with a child, take a walk along a nature path, or do anything else that will bring you some autumn joy. ~Blessings, Mary~
not only does your blog look beautifully fallish so does your home. Have a blessed weekend and thank you for the special sign you made for me. I will put it on my blog. You are such a talented and sweet lady!
ReplyDeleteThe temps have been in the low 90's a few days this week but our nights have been down in the 50's and 60's. I'm ready for Fall! It's my favorite time of year, followed very closely by Winter.
ReplyDeleteSome of our trees and foliage have just a hint of color, but nothing very bright yet. We should have frost sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Your scarecrows and other decorations are looking quite Fall-ish, Mary. :o)
Have a great Sunday!
Love and hugs,
Diane
sometimes I think it would be nice to be what ever you want to do in your yard, that the reality hits and I relize that we are better off living in our townhome style condo.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteIt feels like the deep heat of summer here!
Loved seeing all your cute fall decor and I noticed the scarecrows at our Michaels too!
So cute..
Have a great week.
xo
Mary,
ReplyDeleteYour fall decorations are adorable! I love the scarecrow. It's so nice that you involve the boys in such delightful projects. I have a harvest wreath on my door, some mums and a huge pumpkin out, the rest of the decorating I let nature take care of. Although, we are still in the 80s here, with hints of color here and there, the transforming is going on, until the woods turn into a fairy land.
Speaking of fairies, your beautiful fairy collection is delightful.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Hugs,
Renie
So festive! I love the idea of adding the scarecrows to the potted plants. And the larger on in the corner is super too!!!
ReplyDeleteI too love the season.
Happy Sunday dear Mary!!!
Thanks for sharing your Fall look with us.

Neat decorations. I was just thing as I sipped my coffee on the porch this morning before the family got up and about which plants would be taking the trip inside. I too love autumn and spring. I really do not mind the cold because I can put on enough to stay warm in the winter but I cannot take off enough to be cool in the summer. Maybe when I get old I will enjoy the summer. LOL Peace
ReplyDeleteToo cute Fall stuff........ I finally got around to making a wreath.. I will take a picture today... We are still in the 90's but the forecast is to turn this Wednesday. I love the fall.. I love to sit out under my Maple tree and just read...... I am a pumpkin person and not so much scarecrows! BUT yours are toooooo cute.........

ReplyDeleteWhere DID this week go? I’m trying to catch up today. Your trip to Princess Point looked like fun despite the overcast weather. Sorry … I don’t recognize the birds and hope someone else can help you out. How lovely to be able to spend time with your mom on her birthday. Congrats on all your well deserved awards. I’m glad you enjoyed the ones I passed along and created too. I enjoyed your ‘fairy collection’ and seeing your ‘garden decorations’ today. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

ReplyDeleteI thought I would pop over and visit yours and I'm sure glad I did. You have a wonderful blog and I love the way you have it decorated for Autumn.
Autumn is my favorite time of year also--after a 6 month summer, it is a welcome cool-off. Trouble is, the temps are still above 100! Great decorations!
