Thankful Thursday and Day One of our Mini Vacation

Today is Thankful Thursday. It is a day when we list the things we are thankful for. If you would like to participate, be sure to stop by Sting My Heart and pay Iris a visit. You can find all the information there.

Well, it's Thursday and this week I have a lot to be thankful for. Mom, Brandon and I left Monday morning for a mini vacation to the Muskoka/Haliburton Highlands area of Ontario. This is what I'm thankful for this week:

1. The opportunity to get away with Mom and Brandon.
2. The beautiful scenery that we saw along the way.
3. For kind people who went out of our way to lend us a hand when I forgot all of my meds at home. The hospital staff and the pharmacy staff all went out of their way to ensure I received the meds that I needed. Without them we would have had to start for home Tuesday morning.
4. For a husband who can take care of himself for a few days while I'm absent. We had never been away from each other for this long in our almost 20 years of marriage.
5. For a safe journey and an enjoyable time.
Now for some photos:
The above photo was taken along Highway # 35. We were just entering the area where all the leaves were in the peak of their color.
Along Highway # 35 near Minden, Ontario. There were lots of rocks, trees and lakes. Brandon especially loved the color along the lakes and so did Mom and I.

The above photo was a wetland area, but was very dirty. It was more like a swamp but very pretty. Notice the reflection of the trees in the water.
Another one of the same area. Such a pretty area.
Above is Twelve Mile Lake, just north of Minden, Ontario. Hubby and I stayed in this area in 1992 and it was nice to see it again. It has built up some during the last 16 years, but not as much as I thought it might have.
Another of Twelve Mile Lake from a different area. This is a beautiful area. Brandon and I picked up some bait not far from this spot and we headed to Haliburton to go fishing.
A Mallard was very friendly and not at all afraid of humans. Several couples were strolling or sitting on benches in the area and I imagine that they feed the ducks.
As we sat on the pier fishing, this is the view we had straight ahead.
Another view from the Haliburton pier. This is a beautiful lake and a quaint little town.
We didn't catch anything here. In fact we didn't catch anything at all on our trip but we did have a lot of fun and made many wonderful memories.

Tomorrow I will post day two of our mini vacation. The fall colors are fabulous. ~Blessings, Mary~

  2. Thanks for taking photos so we could enjoy your trip as well, Mary. The colors are indeed beautiful.

It'll still be several weeks before our foliage is at its peak of Fall color.

Hope you've recovered now that you're back home. I usually need a vacation to recover from my vacation, LOL. ;o)

    Love and hugs,

    Diane
