Feeling Terrible

Once again, this is how I feel. I had a round of antibiotics over Christmas, but they didn't do much for me. On December 31st, I woke up feeling terrible and it has progressively worsened since then. The head cold that I had at the beginning of December has turned into sinusitis and ear infection. Yesterday I was really sick...so sick that I actually went to the walk-in clinic and waited 2 hours to see a doctor.

When the doctor came into the room, I explained what was wrong. She didn't touch me. She listened to my story, told me that she didn't think I needed antibiotics and was going to leave the room. I told her if she didn't write a prescription I was going to be in the hospital. I've suffered with sinusitis and ear infection for almost 30 years and know what happens. So, she wrote me a prescription. I went to the drugstore, got the prescription filled and took the recommended dosage immediately. It was only an hour before I began to feel better, but it took me until 2 am to settle down to sleep because of coughing, sneezing, stuffy head. Today I'm feeling a lot better than yesterday, but am still really sick. I am getting up for a couple of hours or so and then heading back for another nap. This is going to wreck havoc on my sleeping patterns, but I am too tired and sick to care.

Sorry to complain so much, but just wanted you to know that I'm feeling under the weather and may not visit for a day or so. Please try your best to avoid all the sickness that is going around. It isn't something you want to experience.~Blessings, Mary~

  2. Don't even think about us. Just rest and get better. Glad you stuck your ground with the Dr. They are getting so hesitant to give out antibiotics and I understand their reasoning, but when you have had this sort of thing before, you know when you need the meds! Feel better!

  3. I'm sorry you're having such a though go. I've went through a bit of this last spring when both Cuppa and I had some sort of virus that wouldn't quit. It went on and on; we'd think we were getting better, and then we'd relapse. Her cough was so persistent and bad that she felt as though she had cracked a rib. Who knows? Maybe she had.

  4. Sorry you're not feeling well, but I'm certainly glad you got your doctor to write the prescription that seems to be helping. Methinks REST is definitely called for. Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Good for you!! Telling the clinic doctor that you NEED the antibiotics to keep from going into the ER!

Take it easy and feel better real soon. I will email you when I can get around to it. I think we're done with all that needs to be done with tax info, so now I can begin to round up the things I need to get that done. We have until April, but I like to have it done way before then. LOL

  6. Sorry to hear you feel like crap and good for you to standing up to the doctor for your own health needs.
But soon you will feel better.

  9. Heat hot water in a coffee mug, add 1 Tbsp. honey and 1 1/2 oz of Rum. Even if you don't get better, you'll believe you are better:)

Bless your little heart. Glad to stuck to your guns and told the doctor what you needed. Most of us know ourselves but fear getting pushy with medical professionals. Ya done good girl!

  10. Mary,

I'm glad the doctor did give you antibiotics. I had that stuff just after Thanksgiving and it took almost a month to get rid of it. I'm glad you're already feeling a little better, and I pray that you will be all well soon!

Take good care and God bless!

    Hugs and prayers,

    Renie

  13. I am so sorry that you are feeling bad. I don't believe you completely got well last time.

I know just what you mean about telling drs what is what. I dont' have as many sinus infections as I used to. But I got to the point where I would tell them what medication I wanted. Myacins did nothing for me and there was no point in wasting time and money taking them. I needed something stronger.
I now use nasonex daily and take lots of vitamin C. I don't have the problems I once had. Now I have asthma and usually have problems with it in the winter. I began taking a generic Claritin daily a few years ago for my alergies and I think it has made a difference.
Hope you're feeling better soon. Do you have a bed buddy? That is what I call them. The long sock thingy that you heat in the microwave. If you do, heat it up and wrap it over your face. You'll be surprised how much it helps.
    Be well soon,
    Mama Bear

  17. I'm sorry your not feeling well. This same cold must be making its way across the entire country. We have it here in VA. Both my hubby and I have been sick. Mine is finally gone except for a tiny cough, the hubby is on his 3rd round of cold meds.
