Can You Believe This?

Hubby and I were out at one of the local retail hardware stores on Wednesday and we couldn't believe our eyes. Yeap, Christmas lights and decorations were on display. I almost choked, I was so surprised. The kids just went back to school here. Before Christmas, and this year on October 12th, is Canadian Thanksgiving and then on the 31st, Halloween, but not one fall decoration, pumpkin or Halloween costume was in sight. I wouldn't have been so surprised if these things had been out on display...but Christmas. Give me a break. How commercialised are they trying to make this holiday?

As for me, Christmas won't be as elaborate this year. Yes, we will have a tree and yes, we will put up our traditional decorations, but it's going to be a simple Christmas in this house. I still can't believe that they have Christmas decorations on display in the beginning of September. LOL

  2. I haven't real looked to see if any of the store are putting up any Christmas stuff or not.
But I'm old enough to remember Christmas decoration didn't show up here to after we celebrate Thanksgiving which is the 4th Thursday in November.

I think the retailer are going to have bleak Christmas because of the economy.

    Coffee is on.

  3. Seems strange I agree, our Christmas won't be much different from yours either.

  4. I'm not sure if there's any in our store yet or not, but there are lots of Halloween and fall items. I'm sure it won't be long, though.

  5. Our Dollar Tree had a big banner across the front of the store "Halloween Headquarters" long before Labor Day - really irked me. Then I went in and found Halloween, fall decorations, AND Christmas already on the shelves. Drives me nuts.

  6. If no one buys the items maybe the retailer would get the hint. However, too many customers are grabbing them up therefore soon we will have all decorations for all holidays up year round. It ruins the magic of each season for the rush for coins in their pockets. Peace

  7. I am old enough to remember also when Chistmas decorations did not show up until after Thanksgiving! Hugs Grams

  8. Hobby Lobby here in our town had Christmas shelves being stocked before their Fall items. Personally, I like the idea. I love the stores in San Antonio that have nothing BUT Christmas stuff. I make a point of it to stop there if we're in the area. Gives me a chance to buy things long before they're picked over if they come out with 'em early 'cause most people are thinking it's weird to have 'em out....so, I find a lot of neat stuff before everyone gets into the spirit.
