Good things are happenin' around this old house. First of all the leaves are turning a bit more. We had a killer frost on Wednesday. The blue jays are screaming and flying from one yard to another looking for food. They are comical to watch and they scold Dakota with a cacophony of noise. He ignores them totally, or sits and watches when they perch in the tree at the end of the driveway. It's hilarious to watch their antics. I enjoy autumn and its sounds, sights and fragrances.
There has been some good news today. First of all, Jordan is back in school after being off an entire week with a fever and a cough. The doctor said it was bronchitis. He still has a bit of a cough but is so much better than he was just a couple of days ago.
Brandon phoned me right after school and told me that he got 100% on all six of his weekly horticulture exams. He tried his final today and will get that mark back next week. Now he moves on to a different tech course. He's not sure which one it is, but I believe his LRT told me it was construction. If so, I'm not sure how he will like it but I told him it would be a learning experience and an adventure. I will update you as things progress.
Last, I had good news today. Another of my stories has been chosen for publication in Chicken Soup for the Soul: True Love. The release date will be December 29th. I was thrilled to have two stories accepted to their publications within six months. When I get my contributor copies in January, I'll be having another giveaway.
And so some good things have been happenin' around here. I am always glad to count my blessings. What blessings have you received this week?
Congrats on the story, Mary ..:)
ReplyDeleteWow Mary - you have home good things going on. I'm so happy for you on all of them!
ReplyDeletecongrats on the published work! we know you rock, so it's nice for others to notice!
ReplyDeletethat's wonderful! I hope Brandon does well in construction. My middle son loves to build and is very good at it. Kids here can choose to go to a technical school for half a day when they are in the 11th and 12th grade. My son went in the 11th for construction, he was chosen to represent the school in the state competition and came in 3rd. He is now a civil engineer. I hope the swine flu is not going around where you live.
ReplyDeletegood things indeed, well maybe not the killing frost.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again, Mary. And I'm thankful that Jordan is feeling much better!
ReplyDeleteAs for blessings, I had an answer to prayers today for Jessica's health problems, but I'm not at liberty to share the details. I'm so thankful for God's blessings and answered prayers!
Happy weekend! :o)
Love and hugs,
Diane

ReplyDeleteHi Mary
ReplyDeleteThe header is wonderful. I love Hootin' Annie's too! Congrats on the story and glad to hear that good health is returning to your family.
Leann
All good things to report.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the publication of another story.
Isn't Anni wonderful? She has gifted me with another beautiful header and background.
We have had two days of much cooler weather. In the 40s and 50s which seem much cooler because we are used to so much warmer. We will be thinking these temperatures are a heat wave when we start having the 30s. We are supposed to get our first frost tonight and tomorrow night then its back to the 70s again so I still have the AC set to come on and my closet hasn't done the turn over yet.
My wonderful Honey Bear just set out my Hosta for me. I was afraid it would die if we didn't get it into the ground somewhere.
We had both of our wee ones last night and they were just great.
Blessings,
Mama Bear
We get Blue Jays every so often and they sure can be noisy! lol For a while this summer we were putting peanuts on the kitchen window sill outside and when they'd suddenly come land on it to get a peanut they'd scare the bejesus out of me! lol
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Jordan is feeling much better and back in school. They say once you've had bronchitis or pneumonia, you really have to watch anytime you get a cold because it tends to come back.
I'm just so proud of Brandon for getting perfect marks on his horticulture exams. Fingers crossed that he'll enjoy the construction part of it now.
Oh, Mary, I'm also so proud of YOU for having another one of your stories published...I'll need to ask you for your autograph next time I see you! hehe
I do hope the good news continue for you:-) xoxo
