Canadian Soldiers Die in Kandahar

Two Canadian soldiers died on Saturday when their LAV hit a roadside landmine 40 kilometers west of Kandahar City. Three others were wounded and flown to Kandahar Air Field where they are listed in stable condition in hospital.

Please pray for these men and their families. For more information on the incident, please click HERE.

Please include all men and women in the coalition forces in your prayers. Every one of these soldiers are heroes in their own right for what they are doing to protect the world from terrorism. Whether or not you believe in the war in Afghanistan or Iraq, please support our troops.

  1. Mary,

I am so sorry to learn of that these Canadian soldiers were killed.

Yes, I will hold these soldiers and their families in my thoughts and prayers. As you said, regardless of the politics of either war, all the soldiers and marines deserve our prayers and thanks. They are all heroes.

    Love and hugs,

  2. Tina,

So glad that you stopped by. I agree that politics has no bearing on the soldiers putting themselves in harms way in order to fight terrorism. Thank you for keeping these men and their families in your prayers.

  5. Lynn,

Thank you for your prayers. It's very much appreciated.

    Pea,

It makes me sad and angry too. It seems so senseless in a way. However, I do respect and support our troops or their stand against terrorism.

    Blessings to both of you,
    Mary

  6. Thanks for my cute post. Our soliders shall always be in our prayers. My heart hurts when I hear of the senseless violence. Now someone will have to spend the rest of their time on earth without son, husband, brother, grandson and on and on. The families need our prayers MORE.
    Peace my friend.

  8. I agree with you that we need to give our support to those who are placing their lives in danger to try to stop or at least slow terrorism down. I am not much of a supporter of the current reason we are in Iraq as it seems to have slid into a civil war that I fear we can not do well in regardless of what we do, but our military men & women are their serving their countries and they sure do deserve our thanks.

Thank you for your visit to my site today. I followed the link to your profile but am not sure which of your blogs listed there is your main one. I guess it depends on which blogging subject I want to follow.

  11. Good Evening Mary,
I got your email and emailed you back. Thank you so much. It is so sad that those soldiers got killed. I will keep their families in my prayers. This country is really in bad shape. I honestly don't know how much this old world can take. So many soldiers have been killed. I didn't post anything this weekend. I am going to post tomorrow. I am just out visiting tonight. I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner for us and my parents and sister this year. I will probably post my menu in the next day or so. Well, take care my friend and hope you have a great week. May God Bless You and Yours. Thanks again for such a sweet email.

    Hugs,
    Karen H.

  18. I have mixed feelings about our Canadian soldiers being in Afghanistan. Normally, I would be calling for them to be brought back home BUT I am very fascinated with Afghanistan and would like to see it achieve stability. I to think our Canadian soldiers have performed admirably. Canada is there as part of a NATO force at the request of the Afghanistan government, whose biggest problem is being dominated by corrupt warlords, who all should be charged with war crimes.

There is a lot of loose use of the word Terrorist. One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter. The Taliban are not terrorists. They are Pastun tribesmen freedom fighters that do not want foreigners in their country, nor do they want to be dominated by those who made up the Northern Alliance. There form of strict tribalism and Islam needs to be rejected by their fellow Pastun tribesmen in Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan.

I hope Canada can make a contribution toward stabalizing the country. Perhaps, our sacrifice in blood will be worth it.

  19. I am so sorry for these deaths and injuries. Yes, we should all remember to be grateful to all our Military. We owe our pleasant way of life, to them always standing guard, in whatever way is needed.

And we should be grateful to their families too. I feel that not only our Warriors serve, but their loved ones do, as well.
