Random Acts of Kindness from Blogging Friends

It was a tough weekend as my regular readers will know and it's going to be a tough month. But I keep my eyes heavenward, knowing that I will get through all of this. Today, I received a beautiful sentiment from on of my blogging friends.

Denise of Shorty Bear's Place knows how much I love Meeko. She sent me the above graphics and I absolutely love them. Denise, you made my day. Thank you so much. You can be sure I'll keep these for years.

It's true that life is better with an Alaskan Malamute. Meeko knows when something is not right with my day and he often comes to me and lays his head on my knee. This afternoon I went outside and sat on the side step. He was laying on the porch and we spent some quality time together. It was a pleasant diversion from all the tension that has been floating around here. LOL
A couple of days ago, I did the four things meme that I saw a Storyteller's. This beautiful button above is one that was given out to participants. Thank you, Storyteller. This little guy is adorable.

This morning after I'd had my first cup of coffee, I walked into the bathroom and saw it through someone else's eyes. The walls needed washing, the vanity needed a good scrubbing and the medicine cabinet was full of medications that had long expired. Right then and there I decided that was my goal for today, though I would have much rather been working in the garden. So, after hubby left to do his errands, I got right to it. I cleaned the medicine cabinet and sorted all of the meds and got rid of anything that had expired. I cleaned out the cupboards and washed them. I cleaned the vanity, the wall behind it and the sink and all the accessories on the vanity such as the soap dishes, toothbrush holder etc.

I have to do things a bit at a time because of my spinal injury. By the time I had filled the bathroom garbage can with things that were no longer needed and the expired meds, I took it out to the curb. Tuesday is garbage day around here and this was the perfect day to get rid of all this stuff.

About that time hubby came home and it was time to get him something to eat. Earlier in the afternoon I had cooked macaroni to make a macaroni salad and I had taken braising ribs out of the freezer. Hubby did the braising ribs on the BBQ and added his specialty sauce. I made the macaroni salad and we had cucumbers, tomatoes and cauliflower florets with it. It was delicous. Nothing fancy, but good.

Besides all this, I had the cleaning up to do and I'd done laundry in between cleaning the bathroom, so I am plenty tired tonight. But it feels good. We have clean sheets to sleep on, lots of clean clothes and the bathroom looks great. It's organized and tidy once more. I just have to finish washing all the walls down and then the floor. This will take some effort on my part as I have trouble getting down on my hands and knees anymore. The bathroom is very small, so using a mop in there is impossible.

Even though I'm a little tuckered out, I feel good. I like to have the house clean and tidy and it's hard to keep up to all the clutter because of limited space and lack of tools for organization.
Take care and have a great Tuesday. Be sure to take time to stop and enjoy the beauty of spring. It was a beautiful day here and I went out a couple of times when taking a break to enjoy it. ~Blessings, Mary!

  1. I am really far behind - my goodness! I didn't know you were having such a tough time. That young man sounds like he needs to be spanked! Does he not have a family? I can't believe the victim has to pay. It always seems to happen that way, it seems.

I am glad you felt so good about your day - I am looking forward to retirement when I can finally get things caught up around here (see today's post!)

  2. I just commented on the previous post about Meeko, the hollowed stump, and the tenant. Thought I'd leave a few words here too. You're right, Mary, there's nothing quite like a clean and tidy house. One can breathe and rest better, eh?

    Take care!

I bet that little bathroom of yours is spic and span and smells soooooooooo goood......... do you like scented candles? I love them and burn them a lot........ and as for Meeko....... He is a beautiful soul............. I often wonder about our pets in heaven...... I know that they do not have a living soul but our Father God can give them one and let us enjoy them forever!!!!!

Have a not so busy day.........

  4. Hi Mary,
I'm catching up so I read your posts for several days. I know how upset you are about the tenant. I know you were trying to help him when you rented him the place. I guess that is why renters have to pay first and last months rents up front. I know in this case you didn't do this. Now you are disillusioned. I have heard how hard it is to evict someone. All I can offer is to pray for you and tell you to try and not stress about it too much because this will make you ill.
I am going to do the meme. I have pasted it to my post and will get it done on Thursday.
I have someone clean for me twice a month. She has taken a break to visit her daughter in Washington who had a baby. So I am going to have to do a little of it myself. Like you, I have the spinal injury plus the arthritis and some of the housework is beyond me. I have a bissel that flips from vacumn to mop and a small stick vacumn which are light enough for me to push so I will use those. I may take this opportunity to dress my leather chairs. Anyway, I'll be doing that this week. I'm already a day behind since we returned from our trip yesterday.
    Blessings!

I know what you mean about that tired, yet satisfied feeling when you have your nest in order.
Glad to hear that your unwelcome tenant will be on his way soon.

  8. This sounds like it's spelled E N E R G Y!!! Something of which I seem to have built an immunity to these days. Maybe the bug'll hit me soon enough. But, as with all infections, I'm not looking forward to the busy cleaning time ahead of me.

    Happy evening to you.

  9. I'm not sure I know all the details of what's been going on, Mary...(I know there has been some concern about your eyes) but I will keep you in my prayers this month.

Spring cleaning can be so therapeutic! Just take it a little at a time!

I really need to tackle so many areas of my house, but with homeschooling, taking the girls to extra classes, Missionettes, ect...my energy just seems to be drained some weeks! So, when we take a bit of a break I'll really get going- only it will be "summer cleaning"! :)

  12. Mary,

I always feel better when the house is at least "relatively" neat. It is a good kind of tired, though that brings a good sleep, espcially on fresh sheets!

Meeko is a very special companion.

    Hugs,
    Tina
