The Weather, a Giveaway and an Unbelieveable Photo

Good morning! It was another rainy day here yesterday and it's to be the same today. It was downright chilly on Tuesday. When I went out to the post office and to do a couple of chores, I wore my fleece lined jacket. It seemed more like April than June.

Tuesday night on the news the weatherman explained that we have had 77 mm of rain so far this month. Last year in the entire month of June we only had 74 mm. In 2006, we only had 43, but that was below average. I do know we've had a lot of rain this year and severe thunderstorms. However, I don't complain because our water levels are low and we do need it.

So that is the weather news from here. What kind of weather are you having in your part of the country?
I love so many vintage items. A few months ago, I won a vintage apron from The Apron Queen. It is red gingham. I have been so short of time that I've never posted a photo, but I do visit often to see the beautiful vintage aprons that she posts daily. Now the Apron Queen is having a giveaway. Click on the button below to win a free apron. Sorry, they are available to those in the US only.

Some of you were curious about the hole that the bath tub came out of in the upstairs apartment. Well, here is a photo. Not pleasant and a real mess. I can't wait to see what this is going to look like once it's all done. This is an old house, but whoever did the last renovations certainly didn't do a great job. I hope ours is better than theirs. We are amateurs but take pride in our work. If we don't know how to do something, we ask someone who does know. My father taught me to take pride in all that I do and this project will be no different.

Not much got done in the way of renovations on Tuesday. We will be back at it on Thursday. I will be so glad when this is all done. Have a great day. ~Blessings, Mary~

  2. Right now...those chilly temps and Arpil showers sounds so heavenly. It's in the high 90's here daily and no rain in sight. And with the heat index, it's gonna be torture 'til the moisture decides to break loose. Yet, I fear the storms coming our way from the African coast too. So, maybe I shouldn't complain at all. Y'know?

Your bathroom looks like torture too! But ohhhhhhh what a difference it'll all be when it's done and you can say "We did it ourselves". Such rewarding work, tho hard on the knees, back, neck and shoulders, arms...all around aches and pains.

Don't forget to breathe and take breaks often.

  4. Hey Girl........ Just wanted to stop in real quick and let you know I am still here.. Your bathroom is amazing! How in the world did that tub stay there... You are a blessed lady... and it looks like so much work...... I pray you take it slow and do not wear yourself out....

Our weather is rainy... and we do not need any more rain right now... so it needs to stop for a while... I bought some lavender a week or so ago and it is dead because of the rain...... bummer!

I will email you latter today with news of my back..

  5. We are enjoying pleasant weather without humidity but alas no rain either. We have had more than last year but need more please. You can always pretend you are Gene Kelly and Sing in the Rain.
Your Dad and my Mother would have gotten along grand as they both believed in doing it right the first time. Peace

  6. We're getting the same kind of weather as you are...been raining and cool all week so far and it's supposed to continue that way for a few more days! I really don't mind it being on the cool side but I would like to see the sun again! lol

My goodness, I can see that you and Dwight certainly do have your work cut out for you in that bathroom but I just know it will be done properly this time!! Whoever did it before had no pride in their work, that's for sure!! A little bit every day...don't overdo it! xoxo

  7. Mary,

Our weather has turned chilly and rainy. We've been lucky because the rain is an on/off thing. It's sunny, then the clouds appear and it rains, then the sun comes out again. I think the sun and the clouds are having some sort of contest. LOL

Wow! That's a big hole. I know you will do a much better job of renovating than the last folks did. I hope it goes smoothly from here on out.

    Take care.
    Hugs,
    Tina

  9. Bathroom renovations seem to take forever. I am sure once it is all done to your wonderful taste it will be absolutely gorgeous.

We have had a lot of rain here in Saskatchewan this month too. Now the temperatures are much better and it looks as if things are turning around weather wise.

    God bless.

  10. This is my first visit to your blog.

You sure have your work cut out for you with the bath remodeling. My hat's off to you as I do all of my own work myself. I am very fussy, and can't stand workers in my home with their dirty shoes on, so I tackle my own projects. Gives me something to do and keeps me busy, too.

Would love for you to drop by my blog and learn a little about me.

    I'll be back!
