What's New in My World

Well, this has been some week. Along with the problems with Brandon, there have been quite a few other set-backs. On Tuesday morning hubby woke up with gout in his big toe. This is the third time in a couple of years. I told him he should go to the doctor but of course he didn't think that was necessary. By Wednesday afternoon, he knew it was necessary. He got a prescription and today it is less painful but very red and swollen. However, the meds will clear it up.

There has been little work done in the upstairs apartment this week. Jack came on Tuesday and got some work done. All the plaster is off the walls and ceiling. The room has been cleaned out a little but the last two days neither hubby nor I have been upstairs. Between the gout and other medical problems, hubby just hasn't been up to it. And of course I have been busy phoning people about Brandon being bullied.

Brandon went for an appointment with the owner of the farm on Thursday. He talked to him and when we were on our way home, he told me it did help. The owner told him that it is his job to make sure his kids are safe and that he had worked for the Ontario government helping kids. That seemed to impress Brandon. He gave Brandon his business card and told him to call him if he wanted to talk again.

So, things have settled down. Brandon is going back to school this morning of his own free will. Hubby and I will be busy working in the apartment. I am stripping walls of old wallpaper and preparing them for painting. Once all the prep work is done, it should go together fairly well.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers for Brandon, your kind words, love and support. ~Blessings, Mary~

  2. Mary, my mom suffered with the gout, and then we discovered a natural remedy, a bit less harsh than the medication. Knudsen Black Cherry Juice. She swears by it, it gets rid of the uric acid naturally. I am glad that your husband is feeling better. Karen

  3. Oh no! I missed it. Your roommate moved out. When did that happen? Did it go alright? You must be some relieved huh? I'm guessing you won't be doing that again any time soon, huh?

You are such a brave soul to work on FRIDAY 13TH. Grandma Christian knew all the superstions and passed them along. I hope you and hubby do not over do because you did not have a chance to work on it for a few days. Good news about Brandon. I read Karen's comments and will put Knudsen Black Cherry juice in my medical bag of tricks. Peace be with you and yours.

  8. Wow..it sounds like I have missed a lot. Tomorrow I will have to go back and check out what happened with Brandon.
Julia had some problems with bullying this past year. I know that that can be oh so hard to deal with as a parents.
Ya'll take it easy and do not over do it with trying to get things ready in the apartment...I know it can seem like a endless task.
I hope that ya'll have had a peaceful day.
    Love ya girl
