Aunt May was told years ago she would never be able to have chemo because she suffers from a rare blood condition. All of her problems started when she was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. After taking radiation treatments and going for her cancer checkups, she was assured she was cancer free. Then, early in 2007, she began to experience terrible leg pain. The doctor told her it was sciatica. The pain continued to get worse as the months passed and in April 2007, she broke her leg when she turned.
Thus began six months of intense pain, surgery to rebuild a hip and radiation. She finally left the hospital in September but had to continue to have radiation treatments out of town. Then in April 2008, they found she had cancer in her head and in her liver. They told her she would have to have chemo and she told them that she was told she could never take it. They advised her that if she didn't have it she would die within two weeks. With it, she may live two months. That was six months ago and she is still going. Aunt May always was one who would prove the doctors wrong.
Thursday went I stopped for a visit, my mother was there. Aunt May is her sister. We had a nice visit and then Mom got ready to leave. I took a photo of Aunt May and Mom because I know that Aunt May doesn't have much time left. There may never be another opportunity for photos of these sisters. I don't have the photo to show you here, as it was taken on Mom's camera, but as soon as I get a chance, I will post it.
After Mom left, Aunt May confided that she almost wished it was all over. Her right leg gives her terrible pain constantly and now there is cancer in her spine. Sleep is hard to come by because the pain keeps her awake. She always was a petite woman, but she has lost a lot of weight. The cancer is progressing and recently the doctors told her that they have done all they can do. However, Aunt May is a fighter and not one to give up hope. She had another consultation at the cancer hospital today and I don't have that report as yet. I will let you know what they had to say.
I had a great visit with my favorite Aunt. I really hate to lose her but I can't wish for her to go on like she is now. I pray the Lord will take her home and relieve her pain and suffering. Please keep her in your prayers.

Congrats on all of your awards sweetie, thanks for passing them on. I am keeping dear aunt May in my prayers. I love you.
ReplyDeleteI just love your heart!
ReplyDeleteThank you for remembering me...I have really enjoyed meeting you and getting to know you.
This blogging has enabled us to form relationships that we would probably not have had the opportunity for if we lived in the same area. God is so good.
I will be praying for your family and your Aunt. I know this has to be so hard. I remember this time with Paw Paw. Not wanting the person to go...but not wanting them to stay in the pain they are in. I know it hurts.
Love ya girl...and I am praying.
I'm glad you like the award that I gave you. Congrats on the other ones. I will keep your Aunt May in my prayers. When my Mom was dianosed with lung cancer it took her quickly. she was given 6 months to live and she lasted only a month after the dianosis. Now I will leave with this A big Hug,You will be in my prayers as well as your Mom.

ReplyDeleteMary........ I needed to mention Aunt May...... we have talked over the month regarding her and I want you to know that I will change how I pray and that God will grant her entry into HIS kingdom without further pain and suffering..... It is hard to pray for people at this point and bless her heart it sounds like she is quite the fighter.... God is watching and HE loves her more than you do....... so I pray that HE turns HIS gaze toward her and calls her name......... Love ya

Congrats on all those awards. Lots of people love you! Thanks for remembering me. I'll pray for your Aunt May. Bone cancer is so painful. I just posted a request for my SIL who also has breast cancer that has spread.
ReplyDeleteDearest Mary,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you were able to go visit with your aunt. I think it was an excellent idea to take a picture of your mom and your aunt together! Having told you about my dad, I can understand why you can't wait for the Lord to take your aunt home...having to watch a loved one suffer like that is so hard.
Congratulations on all your well deserving awards and thank you so much for passing some on to me. Your friendship means the world to me and like you, I can't wait until we meet again:-) We're trying to plan to get away in October, near my birthday, so will let you know!!
Much love to you my friend. xoxo
awww thank you so much Mary :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your awards and thanks for including me to receive one.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for your Aunt May. It is hard to hear of her pain, but somehow it is good to hear that she's such a fighter. As someone else has said, God loves her. God's Will Be Done.
I count you as one of my best blogging buddies. I've loved keeping up with the "going ons" around your part of the world and feel as if I know you and your grandsons personally. I know how much you love them.
Both my parents and several other family members and friends have had and/or died of cancer, so I know what your family is going through with your aunt's illness, Mary. My thoughts, love and prayers go out to you all.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the awards you've received, and thank you for passing them on.
Hope your weekend is a good one! :o)
Love and hugs,
Diane
Ar Mike G.'s request I have added your aunt to my daily prayer list.
ReplyDeleteMay God be with you all.

ReplyDeleteIt's so sad to watch a loved one suffer as you are now with your Aunt May. I imagine your mother suffers too...with heartache. There is most always a special bonding with sisters of the heart.
ReplyDeleteYour really hit pay dirt girlfriend with awards. Doesn't that make you feel super!?!! I know you ARE super. And there is no doubt that you're deserving of them all.
Thanks for passing the special one you rec'd from Mike to me. I love it.
Well, as of 6 AM [I've been awake since 2AM watching the hurricane hit Houston on TV -can't help but wonder about Erik's home and if there is flooding or other damage] we still have power, so I'm perusing the 'net and visiting with my friends.
Hope your day is grand.
[And congrats to Meeko too!!!]
So sorry to hear about Aunt May. She sounds like a real fighter. I will pray for her-especially for rest and peace for her and her family.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your well deserved awards. You do a super job and I always enjoy my visits here. And I am truly honored you thought of me when passing the award along. It just thrills me to know you enjoy visiting my blog and understand what I'm doing there. I am thankful we met and have become "Bloggy Friends" Mary you are a true inspiration to me.
I’m glad you & your mom were able to visit with your aunt … take the photo … and I so relate to your feelings having been there so many times myself with ill loved ones. You’re all in my prayers. Congratulations on all of your well deserved awards and I’ll look forward to visiting those you passed it along to as time permits. Thanks for sharing the Kreativ Blogger award (including ‘web graphics’ in your list for I’m so relieved to have finally learned to to this thing myself) and the Inspiration Award too. I’ll enjoy passing them along in the next few days as I shared your Autum Friends Award today at Small Reflections. I feel so blessed by the inspiration and assistance you've provided to so many …
ReplyDeleteMeeko’s award is VERY ‘kewl’ too ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
There are so many many people that you could give these awards too..It looks like you and I read some of the same bloggers which always seems to happen with all of us. Congrats on all the awards.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your Aunt. It must be awful to see her in such pain.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary, for visiting Nick’s Bytes. I am a disabled ordained minister of the United Church of Christ; praying for others is one way I can continue my ministry since I am seldom able to leave my home.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and yours.
Thank you for thinking of me Mary! I consider you a new treasure in my heart too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to learn of your Aunt's illness. Bless her heart. It must be awful to watch her hurting like that.
ReplyDeletePraying for your whole family
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that your Aunt May is in such terrible pain. I hope that the new consult will bring good news. At the very least, I hope the new doctor will treat her pain. Here in the US, doctors are reluctant to treat pain even in terminal cancer patients for fear of making them addicted. That is so totally ridiculous. Aunt May is in my thoughts and prayers.
Congratulations on all those wonderful awards!! You certainly deserve each and every one. And congrats to Meeko, too! I bet he gets those squirrels running for the nearest tree in a big hurry. This made me think of Oscar. He doesn't usually pay much attention to squirrels, but it's a different story with chipmunks! LOL
Love and hugs,
Tina
Congratulations on all your awards, you so deserve them.
ReplyDeleteI had to start a new blog. It doesn't rain but it pours. Someone must have been trying to use my blog and I am now locked out of the old one. Sighs.... Oh well I am up and running on a new one. So I guess that everything works out in the end.
Might have to update your blog roll, sorry to cause a problem.
God bless.
Congratulations on the awards, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me earlier in the week.
Oh, sweet Mary...I am so sorry for your favorite aunt and sorry that you will have to face losing her. But you are so kind and thoughtful when you say you can't wish her to go on like this. I will add all of you to my ever growing prayer list and you, of all people,my friend, know that prayer is the most powerful thing we can do!
ReplyDeleteSo many thanks for thinking of me and awarding me with this awesome award. I am just thrilled to death and will display it proudly.
love and many blessings, bj
So sorry about your Aunt May pain. I'll say pray for your aunt and for your family.
ReplyDeleteYour wonderful writer and I enjoy reading your blog.
Congrats on those awards.
Coffee is on.
Keeping your Aunt May and your entire family in my prayers for these hard times and those to come. What a blessing for you to share her childhood memories!
