Prayers Needed

Well, I'm on the mend. Today was not as good a day as yesterday or the day before but maybe I did a bit too much yesterday. Tomorrow will be better. The nurse came and changed the dressing on my leg and there is no infection but the wound is still open. So, she will be back Monday to check it. In the meantime hubby will take care of changing the dressing twice a day. He does a great job with it.

Josh is doing better. Had his first food, is craving a Big Mac, wants a smoke and is having therapy for his voice. He is wheeling himself around in a wheelchair and trying to pass the hours when he's not getting therapy of one kind or another. He's also on the mend.

Prayers are needed for my 82 year old mother. She was having a lot of back pain and was seeing a chiropractor for sciatica, but last week mentioned she was having bladder problems. I sent my brother on Sunday night to take her to the hospital but she talked him out of it. This morning about 2am she phoned him to take her. She has been in the ER all day and has had blood work and an MRI. Since I've been instructed to stay out of waiting rooms and hospitals, I can't go to see her, which makes it very difficult for me, but no sense taking the chance of getting more infection or catching a bug while I'm healing.

Michelle (daughter) went to see her this afternoon and they are going to be admitting her. Apparently they think she will be in hospital for at least a week. Michelle said that they will deal with the bladder next week, but need to administer pain killers for the sciatica over the weekend. She is asking for her Bible, so will have to get hubby to drive me to her house and see what I can find to help keep her occupied. Mom, like me, is a doer and not one to be sitting or lying still. She is a go-getter.

Please keep us all in your prayers. Seems that since Josh had his accident in March that one family member after the other does their stint in hospital. I'm hoping that this is the end of that trend.

  4. I don't remember if someone told me this or if I read it someplace but anyway, somewhere along the way I read or learned that urinary tract infections are one of the leading causes of death or other complicating illness factors especially in the elderly! Hope they get to the bottom of your Mom's problems quickly! So good to hear your nephew is improving too and that you my dear are willing now to admit that you might just have pushed yourself a tad too much! Easy, Mary, easy! Take it easy and you'll get well just as fast without any interference then from setbacks caused by well, your overdoing things! I know for someone with your temperment, you perseverance and such, going slowly, easy does it stuff is hard to do but learn to do it!OKay? Hugs and feel better now too.

  6. Just came in for a drink of water, we're out there in the front yard, working on the new flower bed. I just planted a bougainvillea in the center and now will go get some annuals to fill in the outer center. So far so good. But boy is it hot!

    Now girlfriend....you KNOW I keep you all in prayer and continued thoughts daily!!! I'm happy to hear about Josh being able to do so much when it was so scary a little over a month ago. High 5 to Dwight for taking care of you. And your family is doing all they can to help out...which is good.

    Tomorrow things will be better more so...it just has to work out that way!!!

    {{{Hugs to you and your family}}}

  8. Dearest Mary, I've been on a bloggy break but needed to come over today to tell you that I have been thinking of you. Your body will need a lot of time to heal so just take it one day at a time as you've been doing. The worst thing to do is overdoing it!! I have been remodeling Corey's old room (now my room) and oh boy, what a job, especially since I'm doing everything myself, from taking off all the baseboards, window and door frames, painting them, taking down wallpaper, putting primer, painting, etc. I'm getting there but still need to put up the Crown Moulding and baseboards...E has at least agreed to put in the flooring! lol

    Oh dear, your poor mom, I do hope the doctor can help alleviate her back pain and get rid of her bladder infection. Great news about Josh, hard to believe what a human body can go through and yet recover!! Prayers are being said for all of you. xoxox

  9. Hi again,
    why is good news always tainted by bad news, it is fantastic about your nephew, every time he make a step in the right direction is an enormous success. Your mums news is bad, and I totally understand how it feels to be unable to help, my mums health has gone down since I moved to the states and I am so far away now I feel useless most of the time. SHe is being looked after and you must concentrate on your health as it sounds as though they are all going to need you. Keep taking care and rest, we all want to see you back to full health.
    love as always helga

    ps, the pillow sham arrived, my friend in NZ will love it, thanks
