6 Things Meme

Deb at Riding Free with Deb has tagged me for a 6 things meme. This means that I am to tell 6 unimportant habits or quirks. Here are the rules:

1 Link to the person that tagged you.

2 Post the rules on your blog.

3 Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

4 Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

5 Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Okay, let's see if I can think of 6 quirky things about me. LOL

1. If I have a snack in the evening, it is usually a bowl of my favorite cereal. Mmm! Sounds good.

2. I hate brussel sprouts.

3. I love to chew gum and when I am anxious, I sometimes snap it, much to the irritation and disgust of my hubby. This quirk is the reason that I never chew gum in public.

4. My grandsons think I say some words in an odd manner. I blame it on my Irish heritage. Sometimes such sayings, as "tiny wee" sneak into my vocabulary. The boys think this is odd because tiny and wee mean the same thing. I also say didja in an excited voice when they tell me of an accomplishment instead of did you. Don't know where that one comes from. LOL

5. When I am hurt over something, I get angry instead of crying. I cry only when something touches me deeply.

6. When I was a kid, I loved pickle sandwiches. Mom makes the best icicle pickles and today I still enjoy a pickle sandwich if I have some of Mom's pickles on hand.

Well, that wraps it up. I hope you enjoyed learning these quirky things about me. Now to tag 6 people.

Carole at Pea's Corner

Sharon at Rose of Sharon

Ladies, I look forward to reading your list. Enjoy!

I have been honored with some lovely awards.

The You Encourage Me to Follow in His Footsteps Award was presented to me by Denise at Shortybear's Place and also Carolyn at Talk to Grams. Thank you, my dear friends. You have touched my heart.

I would like to pass it on to the following people.

Deena at Can I Be Pretty in Pink? Deena is a wonderful friend who is fighting breast cancer. She has just found out she is in Stage 4 and the cancer is in her bones. Yet she keeps her eyes on God and inspires me to do the same.

Denise at Samaritan Women. Denise is a wonderful woman of God and a dear friend who always puts others before herself.

Connie at Little Red Hearts from God. I haven't known Connie long. She is a hospice nurse who just lost her father. She keeps her eyes heavenward even in her loss.

Sharon at Rose of Sharon. It is evident from Sharon's posts that her faith in God is constant and everlasting.

Kathleen Marie at The Open Window. Kathleen Marie always is also constant in her faith in God and inspires me to always look heavenward.

Mary at Isabella's Closet. Mary always keeps her eyes on God and puts others first, even when she is climbing mountains and walking through valleys herself.

Thank you, Ladies, for inspiring me to keep my eyes heavenward

Carolyn at Talk to Grams, also gave me the lovely You Cheer Me Up Award. Carolyn, I'm so glad that I bring brightness into your life. Nothing could make me happier than knowing that I bring cheer to you. I Love Lucy has always been one of my favorite shows and the show that this scene is from is my favorite episode. Thank you, my dear friend.

I would like to pass this award along to the following people.

Karen at Karen's Korner

Anni at Hootin' Anni's

Deena at Can I Be Pretty in Pink

Lady Di at Kitty Justice

As well as these ladies, I would like everyone on my sidebar to have this award. I visit your blogs often and you all brighten my day with your posts. ~Blessings, Mary~

  1. I think I would love to hear you talk - a little hint of Irish sounds like fum. I've never had a pickle sandwich and don't know if I would want to!

  3. Oh thank you for tagging me! It will take me a few days to get it done, but I will do it!

I liked reading the fun facts about you! How do you make a pickle sandwhich? Is it just pickles and mayo?

    Have a great evening!

    Hugs, Sharon

  4. Mari,

When we were kids food was a little on the scarce side, though we didn't realize it. Mom made us sandwiches for school with what we had. A pickle sandwich with a little butter is good, but only if you have my mother's icicle pickles. LOL

    Blessings,
    Mary

  7. Oh, Mary, thank you so much for tagging me. I will do it this coming week...it will be fun.
I enjoyed reading your "things" and laughed at the part where the grandkids think you talk a little funny. Mine do, too....they are always teasing me about it.

  8. Congratulations on your awards, first of all. Second of all, thank you for visiting my blog. Always great to "meet" new people!

Third of all, what's with the lack of brussel sprout love going on in the world today? Seems like nobody likes them. Except me, of course. Can't stand spinach and am not too fond of broccoli, but brussel sprouts...yum-O! lol I'm a gum chomper, too. Until I chipped my front cap and pulled loose a back filling with my hardcore gum chewing this past year. It was SUGARLESS gum! It wasn't SUPPOSED to be able to destroy my teeth. And while I never had a pickle sandwich (which sounds delish, by the way), I used to love pineapple sandwiches and tomato sandwiches when I was little. I haven't thought of those in forever.

Great list - it was fun reading about you!

  9. BJ,

I am looking forward to reading your list. Yes, the boys tease me too. Our grandkids will one day laugh and say, "Remember how odd Grandma talked." It makes for good memories.

    Love and blessings,
    Mary

  10. Kari,

I certainly enjoyed visiting your blog. And thanks for the compliments on the awards.

If you've never had a pickle sandwich, you are missing a real treat. LOL Seriously, they are GOOD! Tomato sandwiches are another of my favorites. I have never had a pineapple sandwich but am always willing to try new things.

I do hope that my gum chewing doesn't lead to pulling out a filling. I hate dentists.

Thanks for dropping by. I also enjoy making new friends.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  13. Deb,

It's nice getting to know you as well. Those icicle sandwiches are delicious. Your granddaughter sounds like my grandsons. Every time I spend time with them they ask if I have any gum. Sometimes I buy them each a pack. They are gum chewers as well.

Thanks for tagging me. It was a lot of fun.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  16. Denise,

I love most vegetables, but not brussel sprouts. Isn't it fun to pop gum? Makes me feel like a kid again and I do it when I am anxious. Drives hubby nuts. LOL

You are so much fun, my friend. You brighten my days, always.

    Love and hugs,

  18. Congrats on your awards, Mary, and you are most deserving of them. ;o)

Thank you for sharing your awards with us. I'll post mine on my next post, and thanks again.

I love icicle pickles but haven't had any in years. I suppose I should dust off my recipe and try to make some this summer when the cucumbers start bearing....

Hope all is well with you, and I've taken note of the ones who need prayer so I can pray for them as well.

Have a great new week! :o)

    Love and hugs,

  19. Mountain Mama,

I'm glad you like pickle sandwiches. They are delicious and those who don't eat them are missing out on a delicious treat. :-)

I'm glad you enjoyed reading my answer to the meme. And thanks so much on the kind words about the awards.

I hope your week is a good one.

  20. Diane,

Thanks for your kind words about the awards. I appreciate it.

Yes, dust off that recipe and make some icicle pickles so you can make a pickle sandwich and let me know how you enjoyed it. Just a little butter makes it even better.

    Thanks for dropping by.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  21. Thank you Mary!!! I love this graphic...to be honest, this is one of my favorite episodes of "I Love Lucy". I still never tire of watching it and I always have to laugh, even when I know what happens.

I love your other award you were given too, congrats. It reminds me of the card I carry with me everywhere I go...I have a billfold sized card that has "Footprints in the Sand"...I love the poem and I try to remember it as I go through life.

You're very deserving of both awards too dear friend.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart. And, have a terrific day.

  22. Mary,

Your quirks were fun to read. I used to like to pop gum, but haven't done it in ages. I like pickles just plain, as a snack, but never tried them in a sandwich. I bet they are good in a sanwich.

Your awards are beautiful and so well deserved!

    Have a blessed Monday.

    Hugs,

    Renie

  25. Good Morning Mary,
I enjoyed reading your 6 things Meme. I have never heard of pickle sandwiches before. Do you put anything else on there with it? Now, in the Summertime, I make Tomato and Mayonnaise sandwiches to eat. I just add salt and pepper to taste and have a good tasting sandwich to eat. I like my tomatoes fresh from the garden. "CONGRATULATION'S" on some more very well deserved Awards. You truly do deserve each and every Award you receive. "THANK YOU" for passing the "You Cheer Me Up Award". I so appreciate it very much. I do love Lucy and can watch her over and over. I also chew gum alot. I buy the bags at the Dollar General store. I chew the Dubble Bubble. I'm constantly chewing it. I find myself falling asleep with it stuck to the top of my mouth. LOL. I have to blow bubbles too. I don't know why I do it either, but I have been doing it for the past few years. Our girls fixes Pickle juice cubes alot. This all got started a couple of years ago. Since the girls play softball in the Spring and Summer months, most of the concession stands sell those pickle pops. They are good. So, not too long ago, while the girls and I were here one night, they decided to freeze some pickle juice. The next night, we ate on them. LOL. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  26. Anni,

That is my absolute favorite episode of I Love Lucy. Like you, I laugh each time I watch it. Lucy was a real entertainer.

You are very deserving of the award. You brighten my days with your wonderful posts.

Take care and have a great week.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  27. Congratulations on your awards ... each is well deserved. I'm catching up today now that tennis is over ... have added everyone to my prayer list ... and loved the photos from Disney World. My sister and her husband will be there next week for 3 days and she never sends pictures.

I enjoyed learning new things about you ... I often eat cereal for dinner and hate brussel sprouts too. I chewed gum constantly when I was younger but almost never do these days. I'm not sure why. Interestingly I used to cry whenever I got angry ... possibly because expressions of anger were not accepted in my family of origin. I've never eaten a pickle sandwich ... and might need to give it a try.

I hope you have a delightful day and wonderful week.
    Hugs and blessings,

  28. Renie,

I can chew gum for hours or even days and never pop it, but if I get anxious, it seems to come automatically and I don't realize I'm even doing it. Therefore, I restrict my gum chewing to home. LOL

Give a pickle sandwich a try sometime. You may enjoy it and don't forget to add a little butter. Mmm!

Thank you for your kind words about the awards. I appreciate it.

Take care, be safe and have a great week.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  29. Deena,

You are most welcome and I'm glad that you love Lucy. She was a great entertainer. There's no one to match her today.

Praying for you, as always. Hope you have a great week.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  30. Brandy,

I am proud of my Irish ancestry as well and would love to visit there one day. I'd like to see if I can find out more about my roots. I would be interesting.

    Enjoy your week.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  31. Karen,

I have never heard of pickle pops, but they probably are delicious. When you make a pickle sandwich, just add a little butter. I like mine plain. Of course you could put anything on it that you like. I'm not sure how they would taste with mayo. I'm not a mayo lover. When I eat tomato sandwiches, I like them toasted and just add butter and salt and pepper. I was brought up a plain farm girl.

Take care, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed receiving the Lucy award. Most people that ever saw Lucy loved her. She was a great entertainer.

Have a great week, my friend.
    Blessings,
    Mary

I will add my prayers for all your friends to everyone else.

  33. Mary, I do not like brussel sprouts either! LOL...
How do I thank you again for your kindness.. You are ALWAYS doing the sweetest things for me. Thanks for this award.. I can see why everyone loves you so much!
Thanks for caring about others the way you do.
    I LOVE YOU!!! Hugs ~Mary~

  34. Mary,

I enjoyed your meme! I have a variation on you "tiny wee" that I also attribute to my Irish heritage and that is "wee bit" which, of course, also means the same thing! LOL

    Tina
