A Bit of This and That

Good Saturday morning. Isn't it nice that the weekend is here? I found this button of the little puppies with the umbrella and it fits perfectly. Friday was hot and humid - in the 90s. I can take the heat but not the humidity. About 8pm it started to rain, but a nice gentle rain, not the thunderstorms the weatherman predicted.

Friday morning I went upstairs and shoveled (literally) most of the plaster and lath out of the bathroom. It is completely gutted now. Hubby didn't go upstairs because the meds he is taking for gout is making him tired. I think that is the idea - to keep him off his feet. Anyway, after I shoveled that mess out of there I was tired too. LOL I came downstairs and took a break, then went up and tried to strip the wallpaper off the largest bedroom. Never, and I mean never, put stucco paint over wallpaper. A previous tenant did this and I am having a terrible time getting it off. It comes off an inch at a time, so it is quite time consuming. I did take an hour break and then went back up about 4pm. Hubby BBQd, so that was a big help. I didn't go back up after I ate. I was finished for the day.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. It is to be cooler today according to the weatherman and I hope he is right. Even with the AC, it was hot working up there. Take care and remember to take time to stop and smell the roses. ~Blessings, Mary~

  4. It's almost 3 a.m. here now and I have 9 more posts to read and will be finished with that stuff from my reader. Gonna get a pb&j sandwich to eat, take my meds with it (must take with food and at least 8 FULL ounces of water) and then, hit the sack
And here's hoping you aren't still up now -not quite as crazy as I am yet, are you -and that you are getting some much needed rest from all that work with the apartment. Mary, you darned near plum tuckered me out just reading about all that labor!
Peace -and enjoy the weekend -oh, and take a break and a breather when you can too!

Shoveling is not good for our backs, so be very careful. I suggest you close the door to the apartment for the weekend and rest a bit. Peace

  6. we had to take wall paper off the walls at church last summer...there were several layers of wallpaper and paint..
we took spray bottles filled with water....sprayed the wall down real good...let it set for a couple of minutes and it scrapped off wonderfully well...it did make a mess on the floor...but the floor was much easier to clean than scrapping the wallpaper off an inch at a time

good luck with your apartment cleaning project...I pray it doesn't wear you down!!!
    Hugs,
    Mimi

  8. You have an email my dear.

And you'll heed my advice I hope. rofl

I just read both your entries. This one and the one below. I'm so happy to hear that the owner of the farm is MORE than willing to help Brandon if the need arises. That will help YOU too. And it's wonderful to read that Brandon felt better after talking with him.

Tell Mr. Mary that his gout needs to be taken care of. And to TAKE those meds.

MEN!!! I have one that refused to go to a doctor too. What is it with them anyway? :::giggles:::

Have a terrific day. And send that gentle rain my way, will'ya?

[ps - the comment above, deleted was me ---I was logged in to another blog account! Sorry]

  9. What a week you have had! I know from painful experience that getting paper off the walls is not fun, at best. Take it slow and easy.

  11. Love your new header! Methinks it’s been several weeks (maybe longer) since I caught up with you. I won’t be able to do much catching up today, but I did want to ‘check in’ and say ‘Howdy’ and I’m hoping this old laptop will cooperate. I’ve ordered a new computer that should make visits easier. Love this photo with the two pups sharing the umbrella. Sounds like hot and tiring work! Hope the weather clears up for you soon.
    Hugs and blessings,

  13. Mary,

That humidity was awful! I can't imagine doing such hard work during that heat spell. I'm glad it has cooled down.

Removing wallpaper can be a real pain in the neck, never mind if it has been painted over with stucco paint. I'm so sorry you have to go through all this.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I know you don't have a lot of time. I hope you are able to get some r&R today! Take care, my friend.

    HUGS,
    Tina
