Seven Random Facts Meme

Angela at The Life and Times of Gran has tagged me for a Seven Random Facts About Me meme.

So here goes:

1. I have written since grade school but was never published until 1989, when two of my stories was published in the anthology "Gifts of Our Fathers: Stories about Fathers and Grandfathers." Since then, my work has appeared in dozens of anthologies. I am also a web content writer.

2. I am the mother of a grown daughter and the grandmother of two grandsons. I am an aunt several times over and a great-aunt several times over.

3. I love family, nature, reading, writing, poetry and research. I learn something new everyday and often more than one thing. I believe this keeps my brain active and my memory keen.

4. I was raised on a farm. I can slop hogs, muck stalls, roof a house, change the oil in my car, change a tire, drive farm machinery, drive a truck and a wide variety of other things too numerous to mention.

5. I am a cervical cancer survivor.

6. When I was 12, I learned to play the accordian. My dream is to learn to play a piano and actually own one. I believe playing would be very therapeutic for me.

7. In December of this year, I will have been married to my husband for 19 years.

As far as tagging others, I will tag the following people, but only if they wish to participate.

Anni at Hootin' Anni's

Dawn at Call Me Grandma Dawn

Deborah at Corridors

Tina Coruth at Tina's Odds and Ends

  6. Marcel,

I can't imagine how a baby could have been taken from a hospital. You would think they would have a safety net. When my niece had her baby last June, even the parents had to sign to get into the nursery or if they wanted to take the baby back to the room. Very sad.

Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting. I enjoy your visits.

  8. Hello Mary ~~ Like the others,I was
happy to learn more about you. So glad you survived cervical cancer, I survived breast cancer. So sad about the baby ~~ has there been any news?
Thank you for your comments and I am glad you like the story of the stranger who helped the woman and her children at the gas pump. I like your Grandma's quote "Beware, lest you entertain angels unaware." I also liked Gledwood's comment ~ "angel means messenger,so God's angels may well come in human form"
Glad you have had angels in your life and also try to help others
    yourself. Take care, Love, Merle.

Like Robert Frost "I have miles to go before I sleep" however, I had to have my coffee so where better than the computer.
Another thing we have in common besides being a country girl is the fact we were both married in December. Mine is the 7th so Prince could remember the date. ha ha We will be married 22 years. I had to count it up as it seems just like yesterday. Wow, time flies. So happy to hear you are a cancer survior. Mother survived cancer, lymphona, but diabetes took her. Yes, little brother and I are both diabetics. I was just diagnois this year.
    Peace be with you.

  12. Mary,

What a great idea this is. Even after all the years I've known you, there are things I didn't know. I didn't know that you are a cervical cancer survivor. Thank God.

On a lighter note, I didn't know you played the accordian but would like to play the piano. I have always wanted to play the piano! Well, I better stop there or I won't have any random fact left to post in my meme! Thank you for tagging me!

I enjoyed reading your random facts. :-)

    Hugs,
    Tina

    Tina,

Do you realize that we've known each other almost ten years? And there's still things we don't know about each other. Thanks for commenting and I look forward to reading your meme.

  14. Mary,

An interesting life for sure! My Mom is also a cerival cancer survivor - she was only 28 when diagnosed. She's now 64.

Learn piano! But I love accordians..:)

I think I will pass on this meme (and Michele's) because I've already did one a few weeks ago, it's in the Oct archives or under the label "For Smiles".

It seems that your life is in place now - and can only get better. You're a very lucky and sweet woman - and a wonderful teacher.

  15. I loved reading more about you :-) I see you are from Ontario (I know it's vast). In 1988 a friend and myself spent 3 weeks in Cambridge, Toronto, Niagara, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec. Loved it! I returned in 1989 this time just to Toronto and Niagara. Seems like yesterday but was actually a long time ago.
