Show and Tell Friday

It seems that this week has passed by rather quickly because it's already Friday and time for Show and Tell. This week I'm dedicating Show and Tell Friday to Kelly, who loves snow. To meet Kelly, visit Carolyn at Talk to Grams.

We had snow yesterday, though there was no accumulation, but I did manage to get a few pictures of our first snowfall of the year. Kelli at No Place Like Home is this week's host. Thank you Kelli.

Below is a picture of the park across the street. If you look closely, you can see the snow and there is quite a bit on the camera lens.

Above there is snow on the spent Iris leaves and on the snapdragons. Imagine snapdragons blooming in November in Ontario.

In the photo above you can see the snow on the leaves if you look closely. There's not much, as it was melting as fast as it hit the ground. Does anyone know what the red and yellow flowers are called? I was told they are strawflowers, but I'm not sure. These are one of my favorites.

These were given to me by my neighbor. They have new buds on them and are doing better now than they did all summer. They seed themselves and each year I have to thin them out so they won't take over the entire garden. My neighbor told me these are Hungarian Geraniums, but I'm not sure. They do have beautiful flowers and the foliage is a lovely green. If anyone can tell me what they are, I'd appreciate it.

Well that is all for Show and Tell Friday for this week. See you here again next Friday. Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

  2. No snow yet here in SC -- we've just started getting down into the 30s at night and having to turn the heat on this week.

    Your flowers are beautiful!

  3. Melanie,

It snowed all day here but nothing stuck. Today it is damp and drizzling rain.

    Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Your snow looks heavier and wetter than ours...ours was a dry spit every now and then carried by the wind.

I'm gonna have to go visit Gran...I see her in quite a few blogs!

    Have a great day!

  5. Barbara,

Thank you for your kind comments. I didn't think that SC would get that cold this early in the season. We are experiencing those types of temperatures at night and it won't be long until the days are much colder. Many people here are wearing their winter coats.

Thanks for visiting. Now I'm off to visit you.

  11. We had the same type of weather as you yesterday, snow flurries all day long but nothing that really stayed on the ground for long. Today it's damp and dreary...I'm just about ready to take a nap, it's that kind of day! lol I love your flowers and it's truly awesome that you still have so many blooming for this time of year. xoxo

  12. Flowers blooming? When it's supposed to be cold up there this time of year?

But, boy howdy, those are beautiful!!! I'd be picking them for a vase indoors if it's going to freeze. LOL

Snow? No, not for me...that's why I'm way to the south of you. *smile*

  16. I take snow anyway I can get it. I have to drive a few hours to find it, so I don't get to experience it all too often.

  20. Hi Mary,

No snow around here, thank goodness. The weather has been quite lovely. I love this time of the year.

Your flowers are pretty.I think the yellow ones are straw flowers. Not sure about the Hungarian geraniums, and I should know them, if they're Hungarian. Lol.

Enjoyed your show and tell. And thank you for the lovely award you passed on. I will pick it up now. Have a blessed weekend.

  24. Mary,

What beautiful flowers and in November! Wow! The weather sure is strange to see snow falling on these beautiful flowers. I don't know what the orange and yellow flowers are. They look familiar. I think I saw them in a garden catalog.

    Hugs,
    Tina

  25. Mary,

I just did a google search because I thought the flowers were a type of daisy. Even though I was wrong, it turned up what looks like your flower. Here is the website with a photo of the flowers. Are these the right ones?

  26. Mary,

I wanted to check the link, but hit publish instead of preview. So here is the rest of the post! LOL According to the website, the common name for this flower is "Blanket Flower."

    I hope this helps.

  27. What a lovely show and tell, Mary! I agree with the other ladies that the flowers are beautiful. There isn't any snow where I live and I'm fine with that ;0) It's pretty but makes a mess quick when it melts, not to mention it makes your toes cold! ha ha!

  29. Hi Mary, I do love the snow! I think I should move somewhere more north:) Thanks for dedicating your show and tell to me. Makes me envious for snow:) If you stop by and visit my blog, I just changed things around for the Thanksgiving season. Honestly, I'm not sure if I like it yet, but Christmas is around the corner and I can switch it around again.

  30. Katherine,

I will have to check with you about the weather around Christmas. Hubby wants to make a trip south this year. We'll see what happens.

    Thanks so much for posting.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  31. Denise,

When I think of Oklahoma, I think of cold winters. We don't get near as much snow as we used to and it's definitely needed to fertilize the Earth.

Thanks so much for posting. Snuggling up in winter with a good book is one of my favorite things.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  32. Tina,

Thank you for checking. I G*ogle things for other people and forget to Go*gle for myself. They are indeed Blanket Flowers. Thanks for letting me know... and they've won awards. There's no wonder. They've bloomed all summer and are still blooming. Thank you so much.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  33. Michele,

You are correct about the snow melting and making a mess. LOL However, it is so pretty on a quiet night when it's fresh. That is the time I love it most.

    Susie,

Being from CA, you wouldn't like the cold. Maybe you can see some of our snow later in the year on the evening news.

    Kelly,

Grams said you liked snow, so thought I would show you the little bit that we had. I will be able to post better pictures later in the season. Thanks for visiting. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    Blessings to all,
    Mary
