Thankful Thursday

I can't believe that Thursday is here already. For some reason I had it in my head that it was Wednesday. Maybe I'm just trying to stop time in its tracks so I can get everything done that I need to do.

Thankful Thursday is one of my favorite days of the week. Though I give thanks daily for blessings received, this is the day that I share them with you.

1. I am thankful for all my dear friends that I've met here. This week I've been especially blessed by Denise O., Denise W., Sharon, Michele, Grams and Kathy. Thank you, Ladies.

2. For my grandsons being back in school after one of them had a full week off and the other one three days. There's a flu bug going around up here.

3. For the snow that is falling outside my window. It's a fine snow that will probably not accumulate, but we do need snow to make the Earth fertile. I am not quite as thankful for the cold and wind.

4. For the tow truck driver who had to retrieve my husband's keys from the locked van. He knows my husband and only charged him a fraction of the usual price. No, hubby didn't lock the keys in, but he did leave the door open on that rented van when he was away from it and a stranger shut the door. I'm not sure that the man realized that when the door shuts, it automatically locks. Oh, the blessings of modern technology. However, it could have cost a lot more, so I'm very thankful that it happened the way it did.

5. For all things that Our Father provides. In this nation, we are truly blessed.

This week I would like to pay special tribute to the men and women from both the US and Canada who are stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am thankful they are willing to take a stand to protect the world from terrorism. May God keep watch over them all.

If you would like to participate in Thankful Thursday, please visit Crystal at God is in Control and learn more about it.

  1. You have snow falling too. I just read that PEA is expecting snow.

Yes, we do need it. Thank you for reminding me of that. I should not be just saying.... Snow stay away! :-)

  2. Mari-Nancy,

I just went out and took some photos of my garden and the park across the street. Pea is quite a ways north of me and I would imagine she is getting snow. It's to snow here all day. It is a fine snow and melting as fast as it falls. However, if the temperature goes down or if it continues into the night, I believe we may see some accumulation.

Thanks for dropping by. I always enjoy visiting with you.

  3. What a great list! It seems that the modern technology should have been able to sense that the keys were still in the car and therefore the doors should not lock. But, at least you didn't have to pay a huge price to get it opened!

  4. Melanie,

$40 was enough to pay, but if it had been anyone else, it would have been $60, so that was a blessing. This is a rented van that we have while our van is being repaired. I'm not sure if you knew that hubby hit a deer on October 28th. So, it was not fun at all and we dislike the rented van even more now. The blessing here is that at least we have wheels. We will both be glad when we get our own van back.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  6. I am so blessed and I enjoyed reading your list of blessings, Mary.

It's not cold enough for snow here yet, but I'm looking forward to it. We so rarely get snow these last several years that I do appreciate it when it does snow!

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  8. Grams,

I love your visits. Tell Kelly that I took some photos of the garden and the park across the street and she will be able to see the snow must as soon as I get them posted.

She is a dear. May both of you be abundantly blessed.

  9. Diane,

It snowed all day until about 4pm. Nothing accumulated but if it freezes tonight it will be slippery driving. I like the snow if there is no wind. I like to walk on a quiet night when the snow is falling and the entire world looks like a fairyland.

Thanks for your comments. I always enjoy your visits.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  10. Sandy,

Last November 12th, (I think it was) we got dumped on. Then we got very little snow for the rest of the winter. Only once that we got enough to go tobogganing.

When I was a kid, we often went tobogganing in October, but that is no more. But anytime around Halloween, we can expect Old Man Winter to pay a visit just so he can let us know he's still around.

I do hope you're feeling better soon.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  13. Thank you for your comment on my post.

I'm thankful for snow too, I keep wishing we'd finally have our first snow. There have been plenty of super cold days, but still no snow here in my part of WA yet.

  18. Hello Mary ~~ A very informative post with lots of good advice. Thank you.
Time is a very precious commodety, and we should all use it to the fullest extent. So much time is wasted, and I am guilty of that at times. John is going very well, I'm
pleased to say. I don't know what a sticky post is, but guess it stays at the top and new posts go under it. ??
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.
